When you find yourself in a locked room, how do you escape? In one tale, a girl transforms into a gargoyle during a vacation in Paris. In another, a soul is imprisoned in an empty room, waiting to be born. A woman who appears to be disabled reveals that her only true disability lies elsewhere. Young lovers, disguised as sisters, witness the end of their lives amidst the destruction of an iconic city. With rapid and intense build-ups, these stories explore what we hold dear when we know we are about to lose it, how we maintain hope despite our circumstances, and how to navigate life even when we feel as if we are not truly living.

“This collection is a love letter to the misfits and the misunderstood. Christine’s writing is both brutal and beautiful. I was hooked.” —Elizabeth Passarella, author of Good Apple and It Was an Ugly Couch Anyway

Rebel Satori announces the acquisition of Homoland – the debut novella by Sam Jenks.

Book #4 of our Bijou Book series.

Urban and Rural landscapes predominantly reflect straight values and ways of living — but what if q***rs decided to do something about that? Meet Manny, a gay antihero who has his own unique methods to expose and disrupt straight hegemony by taking on those who do so much to maintain it - the middle classes.

Sam Jenks (he/him) is a UK-based gay writer and arts producer - he writes contemporary gay, genre-stretching fiction with a surreal underbelly.

His short stories have been published in Fruit Journal, Q***rlings, and Litro, as well as in the dif zine anthology, which is set to be released in summer 2025. His art book collaboration Robinson in Chronostasis is published by Magdalen Yard Books. He also created and served as editor-in-chief for Q***r Writing for a Brave New World, published by Out on the Page, and Co-Curated Audible UK's Pride List of Q***r Storytelling in 2023.

Sam is the founder and producer at dif , a network and project for q***r writers working beyond the mainstream. He is also a peer at the free Islington Mill Art Academy in Salford, UK.
