The debut vinyl release of Jackie Deshannon's 'When You Walk in the Room' LP!

Virtually all the Jackie DeShannon classic songs featured on this LP are like mile markers on pop music’s journey through the decades. “When You Walk in the Room,” written by DeShannon, and “Needles and Pins,” written for her by Jack Nitzsche and Sonny Bono, represent her early 1960s work. DeShannon achieved a Top 10 hit in 1965 with her exquisitely soulful rendition of Burt Bacharach and Hal David’s “What the World Needs Now Is Love.” This legendary standard earned three Grammy nominations and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

In 1969, DeShannon firmly established herself with a song of her own with the classic “Put a Little Love in Your Heart,” bringing her back to the Top 10 and another Grammy nomination. Her work with Donna Weiss took DeShannon into the 1980s with her smash #1 hit song “Bette Davis Eyes,” which established Kim Carnes as a major artist of that decade, and earned DeShannon the 1982 Grammy Award for Song of the Year.

This new vinyl reissue from Liberation Hall celebrates the 15th anniversary of DeShannon’s last studio album. It includes 11 of her best-loved songs re-recorded acoustically. The vinyl will arrive in stores October 23. Pre-order at Bandcamp:

COMING OCTOBER 2:

'Dark Road Blues' captures Mike Bloomfield’s last recorded performance, on January 31, 1981, at the Catalyst Club in Santa Cruz, California. The virtuoso guitarist would die two weeks later at age 37.

This previously unreleased show—heard in a soundboard recording—features the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Blues Hall of Fame inductee on piano and guitar, performing ten blues perennials. One of the most brilliant and influential players of his generation, Bloomfield was a pivotal member of the groundbreaking Chicago blues group the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, and founded the genre-leaping "American music band" the Electric Flag. He recorded with such greats as Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, and Muddy Waters, among many others.

Music author Chris Morris has provided a new liner notes essay for this release.

OUT NOW! The Hillmen were a bluegrass supergroup which featured future Byrd Chris Hillman, country music legends Vern and Rex Gosdin, and banjoist Don Parmley. Although recorded in 1963/64, their seminal self-titled debut LP would not see its official release until 1970. The Hillmen displays their unique takes on Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie and Maybelle Carter, alongside several original songs by the Gosdin Brothers.

For this first-time reissue, the original 11-track album has been expanded with six bonus tracks, and the packaging lovingly recreates the original artwork by Dean Torrance of Jan & Dean fame. Chris Hillman’s original jacket liner notes are included. Produced by Byrds manager Jim Dickson, all the tracks were mixed from the original 3-track tapes in 1970 by engineer Dave Hassinger (the Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, the Jackson 5). This album is a must-have for fans of bluegrass music and is a true treasure of Americana.

The Hillmen was reissued July 24 on CD, and August 14 on vinyl.
