Meet Hadley! She was rescued this week after being abandoned at an Indian casino parking lot garage.
It looks like she’s had puppies, but I don’t know what happened to them or how long ago. Any person who could abandon such a sweet dog is truly despicable!
Im spending my second full day with her and she is incredible. She follows you around, sits on command, gives more kisses than you can ever ask for, and loves to have tummy scritches.
I am so blessed to get to adopt her and love her forever. We have gone to the park and explored Petco. She loves every one and gets a sad look when she is ignored.
She loves to sleep in the silliest positions and will excuse herself to bed when she is tired.

She is also so precious to me because this is the first dog since losing my 19 year old poodle, Annie, who was my entire world and passed away. It’s been a few years and I wasn’t sure if my heart was ready. Grief is never ending but for the first time I feel a joy in my heart I didn’t think I would ever have again. I cry for Annie sometimes daily still.

Hadley is another angel on earth in a little dog body creating light and love. I am just so blessed we found each other. I can’t wait for all our adventures and to love her like crazy.
The last photo was when we rescued her. She was so scruffy but just as adorable.

A young man has spoken out about the passing of Charlie Kirk, saying the flood of negative comments online is “not funny at all.” He reminded people that behind the headlines is a grieving family and friends — and that moments like this call for compassion, not cruelty.

A newborn rhino calf named Daisy was found alone, just hours old, trembling and weak. Rescuers rushed her to intensive care, where she received round-the-clock treatment—but she was still missing something vital: a companion.
Then came Modjadji, a tiny zebra foal rescued after storms left her barely alive. Both orphans had lost their mothers far too soon, but together they found comfort. What began as cautious curiosity grew into inseparable friendship.
Now Daisy and Modjadji eat, play, and even sleep side by side—two survivors healing through each other’s presence. One day they’ll return to the wild, but for now, they’ve chosen each other as family.
Sometimes, the family you choose is the one that saves you.

This morning a few people saw my daughter walking to school & me following behind her. Some asked me why I did that & others gave me a stank stare.
I’m very well aware she’s only 10. And she walked Because I told her to.
Because she forgot how to treat adults, So I told her to walk.
Because she mistakenly associated her size with her authority, So I told her to walk.
Because her behavior towards me & other adults is unacceptable, So I told her to walk
Until she can appreciate the free ride to/from school. Respect and listen to me. I'm the mom who is watching to know that she's safe. I'm also the mom who is not here to be her friend. I'm the mom who is okay with her child being angry at her sometimes. I'm the mom who is desperate to leave this world better than I found it, through the people I'm bringing up into it.
A lot of people are so afraid to hurt their kid's feelings, but she'll only be mad at me for a little while.
I'm more afraid of my kid growing up to be an entitled as***le.
We're not here to be their friends. We're here to make sure they grow up to become a friend worth having. So yeah she was walking. Thinking. Reflecting. Maturing. Learning. Growing.
And I'm watching. ❤️

A stork father lost his mate in a tragic accident, leaving him alone with four hungry chicks. In the wild, such a burden is often too heavy for one parent. Yet he stayed — shielding them from storms, spreading his wings to keep them warm, and fighting to do the work of two.

But one bird cannot provide enough food for four growing babies. That’s when people stepped in. Three times a day, a man climbs to the nest, bringing meals for the chicks — and for their exhausted father. What began as grief has become a partnership, man and bird working together so that the little ones can survive.

Now the chicks are thriving, their wings growing stronger each day. The father, once struggling, has regained his strength. And the sight of a man climbing the ladder to help has touched hearts around the world — a reminder that compassion can bridge even the gap between species.

This story is more than survival. It is a testament to love that refuses to give up, to resilience strengthened by kindness, and to the truth that sometimes, when nature falters, humanity can help it rise again.

This morning, my sixteen-year-old grandson showed up at my doorstep with a bag, looking as if he’d just had the stuffing knocked out of him. He lives two states away and had traveled by bus to get here. Why? Because my daughter decided that the best way to handle him coming out of the closet was to kick him out of her house.
I called my daughter, and she made it clear that she didn’t want him back. She said some truly nasty things, and I honestly thought I had raised her better than this. Now, my grandson doesn’t want to go back home, and I don’t blame him. I’m so angry with her that I don’t want to write something I might regret later, but it’s hard to hold back. I thought I taught her better than to act this way.
Right now, my grandson is sleeping in his new bedroom, and I’m at a bit of a loss about how to move forward. The poor child’s world has been turned upside down, and I’m trying to figure out what to say and do to make things right for him. He doesn’t want to return home, his mother doesn’t want him back, and I’m absolutely fine with him staying here. However, there’s a lot to sort out.
Thankfully, my grandson is now in therapy and enrolled in school. He has been placed in my custody while CPS handles the situation. My lawyer is managing the necessary paperwork and assures me we have nothing to worry about. Meanwhile, my daughter is facing criminal charges for child abandonment, which is a very serious crime. Her actions reflect poorly on her character. When she realized her income was being cut off and that she had committed several crimes, she started pleading that it was a heat-of-the-moment decision she regretted.
However, this defense didn’t hold up, especially since she had already thrown out all my grandson’s clothing and belongings. Despite everything, my grandson is doing as well as can be expected. He’s made friends with my neighbor’s kids, who are around his age. We redecorated his room, and he had a great time picking out his own furniture and paint.
He’s also gotten a PS4, which has become his escape. He’s decided not to join any groups, and I’m respecting his choice. We’ve been discussing getting a puppy, as he loves dogs, but his mother never allowed him to have one.
Thank you for reading.

Last night, I thought I was reporting for just another late-night flight. The usual airport chaos surrounded me—families, business travelers, students. But as the crew gathered, something extraordinary unfolded.

One by one, we realized it—every single flight attendant was African American. Smiles, laughter, disbelief. None of us had ever seen this before. Then the First Officer arrived—also African American. And finally, the Captain. Tall, proud, and Black.

For the first time in our careers, the entire crew—from the cabin to the cockpit—was African American.

It wasn’t just a flight. It was history in motion. Passengers boarded, some unaware, others smiling with quiet recognition. But for the little girl who peeked at the flight deck and saw pilots who looked like her, it meant the world.

Representation isn’t just a word. It’s power. It’s possibility. It’s proof of how far we’ve come—and how far we can still go.

🚒 A Father’s Presence on Her Wedding Day ❤️
When Kristin Marino married on August 27, 2025, she thought she would walk without her father, FDNY hero Kenneth J. Marino, who died on 9/11. But Rescue Company 1 made sure she never felt alone.
Arriving in their firetruck, Kenneth’s brothers in uniform escorted Kristin to her ceremony. The sight brought tears to her, her mother, and her brother Tyler—because in that moment, it felt like her father was right there with her.
“This is what brotherhood means,” Kristin said through tears.
For her husband Noah Schnacky, it was the most powerful part of the wedding—a reminder that Kenneth’s legacy lives on in love, honor, and the unbreakable bond of the FDNY family. 🥹❤️
