WE ARE A GENERATION THAT WILL NEVER COME BACK. A generation that walked to school and then walked back. A generation that did their homework alone to get out asap to play in the street. A generation that spent all their free time in the streets with their Friends. A generation that played hide and seek when dark. A generation that made mud cakes. A generation that collected sports cards. A generation that found, collected and washed & Returned empty coke bottles to the local grocery store for 5 cents each , then bought a Mountain Dew and candy bar with the money. A generation that made paper toys with their bare hands. A generation who bought vinyl albums to play on record players. A generation that collected photos and albums of clippings of their life experiences as a Kid. A generation that played board games and cards on rainy days. A generation whose TV went off at midnight after playing the National Anthem. A generation that had parents who were there. A generation that laughed under the covers in bed so parents didn't know we were still awake. A generation that is passing and unfortunately it will never return no matter how hard we try. I loved Growing up when I did. it was the best of times.

I just read a post where a neighbor was complaining about a yard on her street that was normally taken care of, but had recently been let go. There was a barrage of people demanding it be turned in to be cited by the city.

Can I ask my friends to consider something?...if you see this in your neighborhood, go knock on the door and see what's going on.

Last year my Mother in laws yard, which is normally immaculately manicured went weeks without being touched. She was inside the home caring for her husband who was dying from Cancer. I remember watching as a few young men from her Church showed up with trailers, riding mowers and went to work getting it taken care of. It took a village to help her last year and I know she may not have remembered everyone that helped, I know she appreciated having every single second she could with Chris.

Maybe your neighbor has something much bigger to take care of than uncut grass...and maybe they need some help. Let's don't lose all ability to be neighborly.

Please don't get mad at me because I get excited when you get home.
It's the best part of my day.
I only live 10-15 years so don't leave me alone for too long.
I don't have as much time as you do.
Don't stay cross with me all day.
You have work, family and friends.
I only have you.
Take care of me when I get old.
I'll be just as cute as when I was a puppy.
Remember, I love you and you are my everything. ❤️

My daughter is going to be the maid of honor at my sister's wedding, and I made the dress, but I'm anxious to know what people will think, so I posted it here in the first so I don't embarrass myself.❤️

This evening after work, I was approached by this guy in Tallaght Shopping Centre Car Park. As I sat in my car, he tapped on the window and said, excuse me sir but can you spare some change for a Burger, I’m Homeless! My first reaction was, No mate I’m sorry I’ve no change.
His reply ” no problem sir and thanks very much, I apologise for asking you, have a great day” and he walked off across the car park. I paused for a minute, then looked to see where he was walking too. He actually walked towards McDonald’s in Tallaght Square. To me this guy was genuine and hungry. My first thought, he’s maybe a Ju**ie looking to score his next fix. I drove out of the Shopping Centre and across to McDonald’s after him, to witness him looking on the ground for any coins. I pulled up beside him and said, sorry mate but sometimes I’m sceptical of giving money to people who seem to be homeless and ask for spare change, my reason is, I think people just use the money for their next Fix or Alcohol. I apologised and I asked him If it’s OK, can I buy you that Burger in McDonald’s…his reply, Thank you so much. I parked up my car and walked into McDonald’s in Tallaght with this guy, who I now know as Nathan. I asked him his name and said order what you want off the menu. He ordered a Big Mac Meal, the customer assistant asked, Would you like to go Large….Nathan looked at me and I smiled, I said, go ahead mate, no problem. “He even had the manners to ask” Nathan couldn’t stop saying thanks and when receiving his €6.99 Meal, he was so polite in asking the customer assistant for Salt and Ketchup. I asked Nathan was it ok if I joined him, we sat down and chatted for a few minutes. Nathan told me he lost his brother two years ago and his sister took her own life over a month ago. He is now sleeping rough at the back of a school or college, in a sleeping bag! My heart went out to this guy. I asked Nathan if it was ok to take his picture and post it up here to bring to the attention of the public that, not all homeless people are Ju**ies, or Thieves or Beggar’s…there is some who are genuinely suffering and need support. Where’s he going to get his next Meal from and what challenges does he continue to face daily? It only took 20 minutes of my time and a few euro to HELP this lad and actually sit and speak with him for a bit. When I got up to leave he said, thanks so much Liam and God Bless You…those few words meant a lot to me.
Now I know there will be a few Trolls who will think, this guy is trying to be a hero, well for anyone who really knows me, knows I’m not. I’m just trying to give one of our own Irish citizens a dig out. Who knows when your luck could change…
Never judge a book by its cover!
Maybe my encounter today will give people a different view on life.

Got a welfare check call of a 92 yr old woman, who sometimes walks up and down the road and doesn’t know where she is. Sometimes forgets her door is open so thinks she is locked out.
Neighbors call and said, she forgets a lot of things and her hands are ice cold to the touch. So they let her warm up in their home.
We go by and check, she has 2 sons who just forget about her. No food in the fridge, only milk and old lemonade. Only eating a bag of Cheerios, place hasn’t been cleaned recently. All she wanted to know is why her sons don’t bring her food or check on her. She said she just need a couple sandwiches or something to least not be hungry.
Without her knowing, we left and got her some groceries for her home. Big rotisserie chicken, some sandwich items to last a week or 2, some chunky soups, bunch of chips and meat, some waters. Knocked on her door and she was all smiles and in disbelief someone actually cared enough about her to even help.
Not always about running and gunning catching bad guys. Sometimes just showing someone they aren’t alone can change their lives.
Like I said from day one, “changing lives one smile at a time”

75-year-old Leonard Bullock and his wife Dorothy have lived across the street from a railroad yard in Pendleton, Oregon since 1982. And over the years, they haven't always had the money to maintain their house.

A railway worker named Josh Cyganik has waved to Leonard on his porch almost every day for the last four years, but never actually talked to him until last month, after he heard two teenagers making FUN of the place.

They were joking that it looked so bad, someone should just burn it down. And Josh knew Leonard heard them too, when he saw the look on his face.

So a few days later, he asked Leonard if he and some friends could repaint the place for him, and got a hardware store to donate supplies. Then he posted about it on Facebook, and more than a HUNDRED PEOPLE showed up that Saturday to help.

They painted the house . . . fixed up the porch . . . made it wheelchair accessible . . . and bought everything they need to replace the ROOF, which is still in the works.

Josh says one of his friends drove by around 10:00 P.M. that night, and Leonard and Dorothy were both still out on the porch smiling.

“Our sweet Joanna has had certain challenges growing up. She is as smart as can be, but has vestibular, auditory, visual, and sensory challenges. Little things that most of us take for granted can easily become largely challenging and take a lot of courage for her to even attempt, from any one of these issues can definitely affect her all at once.
Today at the Galleria, we were nearing a melt down simply riding down the escalator. Nothing we haven’t done before, but today was different for some reason. We have experienced a great many hardships in the last two years. I don’t dwell on them. But at this moment, I was thinking how much I missed my husband who is working in a different state, because he would just hold her hand and tell her it was okay. She was getting embarrassed.
Three Hoover Police Officers were approaching to go down just a few moments after we had. This officer immediately picked up on what was going on. He reached out his hand and said,” Come on, I got you, we will go down together, hold my hand.”
She still was hesitant but his strong and kind presence as a patriarchal figure was an instant answer to a fleeting thought of a prayer I was having in my mind at that moment. It wasn’t a fake gesture, but this officer completely embodied the light of Christ in this sweet act of compassion for his fellow man, my little Joanna.
Thank you Officer Perry, and thank you Hoover P.D. for being top-notch and going above and beyond. This means the world to us today and serves as a reminder of what Christ’s life was and is for especially at this Christmas Season, ”Love one another, even as I love you.”

My brother Rick is finishing his rug he is ashamed to crochet, so I thought it would be interesting to post here in the group so that he feels more motivated to continue, because he has a lot of talent and I don't want him to stop.

During last night's shift, Officer Cardin found this little bundle of fur hiding at the base of a lamppost at the corner of Florida Avenue and Pine Street. It was early in the shift so he brought her in, outfitted a records box and put her safely inside the kennel at the station.
But, the little cutie caught the eye (and heart) of Sgt Wallace. He didn't want her to be alone all night, so he scooped her up and kept her with him throughout the shift. She seemed to take to her new role as partner to Sgt Wallace, however, she did fall asleep her first night on the job.
We think all is forgiven as she now has a new home with her partner Sgt. Wallace. Congratulations to little feline officer Kelsey on her new loving home.
