Day 2 of the 2025 District 4 Babe Ruth Tournament is officially underway!

Starting off the day is the No. 5 seeded May-Port-C-G 1 Patriots and the No. 1 Thompson 1 with first pitch at 1 p.m. in Game 5. Game 6 includes Thompson 2 versus Nelson County at 3 p.m. The last game of the day – Game 7 – will include the losers of Games 5 and 6.

Unfortunately, our local teams – New Rockford Black Sox and Carrington Redbirds – did not make it past yesterday, as they both came up short to the Thompson teams – NR (1), Thompson 1 (11) and Carrington (5), Thompson 2 (9).

⚾️It's time for Day 1 of the District 4 Babe Ruth Tournament!⚾️

Due to wet field conditions in New Rockford, Game 1 (Hatton/Northwood 1 & MPCG 1) and Game 2 (Nelson County & Hatton/Northwood 2) have been moved to Carrington. Game 1 will begin at 12 p.m., with Game 2 to follow 30 minutes after the completion of Game 1.

Game 3 (Thompson 2 & Carrington) and Game 4 (Thompson 1 & New Rockford) are currently still set for New Rockford, with Game 3 beginning at 4:30 p.m. and Game 4 to follow 30 minutes after the completion of Game 3.

If the schedule changes, we will make an update on our page! A decision will be made whether the games are going to be in New Rockford or Carrington by 2:30-3 p.m.

Good luck to the New Rockford Black Sox as they take on Thompson 1 in the last game of the night.

Show your support for Austin Weisenburger, a freshman at New Rockford-Sheyenne School and the son of Lucas Weisenburger and Terah Weisenburger of New Rockford.

On Tuesday, May 20, Austin and his family learned that he has a tumor in the temporal lobe of his brain, which was causing the seizures he has experienced since February. An EEG showed activity in his brain waves in the same spot as the tumor that line up with the way his seizures present.

Austin will undergo an open craniotomy on Tuesday, July 22 to remove the tumor. His medical team is hopeful that the tumor is benign and believe there is a 70-80% chance his seizures will go away once it is removed. After surgery, Austin will remain at Mayo in Rochester for 5-7 days to recover.

tees are available for pre-order now. All pre-orders placed by Friday, July 18 will be completed for pickup at the Transcript office in time for Austin's return home from Mayo. Orders received after that will be completed within 5-7 days.

The Black Sox defeated the Patriots 10-8 to move on to the District 4 Babe Ruth Tournament, which begins on Wednesday, July 16.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for central into east central North Dakota into parts of northern Minnesota until 6 am.

Scattered thunderstorms will continue to develop over eastern North Dakota into northern Minnesota tonight, with the best chance of seeing any severe storms being in the watch area that includes Grand Forks, Fargo and Bemidji.

Hail and wind gusts 60 mph the main threats along with frequent cloud to ground lightning and heavy rain.

The Black Sox advance to the District 4 Babe Ruth Tournament on Wednesday, July 16 after taking down the May-Port-C-G Patriots 10-8 in a play-in game at home.

Way to go, Black Sox!

On Wednesday, they will take on Thompson 1 at 6 p.m. Go get ‘em, Sox!⚾️

It's District 4 Babe Ruth Tourney time! ⚾️

This year, New Rockford is hosting the tournament, which begins on Wednesday, July 16 and goes through Saturday, July 19.

Today, the New Rockford Black Sox are set to take on May-Port-C-G in a play-in game at 5 p.m. out at the Jim "Legion" Johnson Memorial Field. The Black Sox are in need of a win to move on to play in the District 4 Tourney on Wednesday.

Head out to the field today to cheer on the Black Sox to victory!
