Background of the Big Guy:


  • Affectionately known to his childhood friends as “Birdman,” Dave Parrot was born on Long Island, New York. Suggested by his first-grade teacher as “brain damaged,” only to find out that was not true. He found sports to be a great outlet for learning, growth and character building for life. The discipline of athletics taught him to believe that he could rise and prosper from any challenge he faced.

  • Dave learned early on that “no wonderful and fulfilling life is without adversity and challenge”. At the age 17, his High School football career abruptly came to an end due to personal issues, and then, he experienced the break-up of his family due to divorce.

  • Living in a world of anger and confusion, it was Dave’s High School varsity basketball coach who gave him great words of encouragement. Coach Kalinowski said, “Dave, you are a senior and we really need you to step up and become an important part of this team.” Heart filled words at the right time were truly a gift from God.
