On the west coast : opening night at Barona Speedway was a smashing hit. In the factory stocks, Brandon Jesina made his debut in a new ride last night at San Diego’s only Stock car Dirt track Speedway. Jesina who is no stranger to the 1/4 mile stock car dirt track located approximately 45 minutes from down town San Diego and about 5 miles north of the Barona Resort & Casino, has been working on a new factory stock, a 1987 Grand Prix he recently purchased from local elcajon racer David Hunt. Jesina started 6th out of 6 in the Barona Factory stock heat race and quickly made his way to 2nd place almost picking off The 89 car of Rusty Staley who held on for the heat race win.

Later in the evening Jesina would find him self running down the leaders to work his way from 6th to 4th after splitting the 53 & 24 down the middle on the front stretch clearing both cars at the center of turn 1&2. The 19 of Rick Chavez and 55 of Joseph wiperman would find themselves running 1st & 2nd but would tangle in the middle of turn one and two after having just cleared lap traffic. The 77 would spin in order to avoid piling into the two leaders, unfortunately the spin would see both right side tires blown out ending the night for the 77 of Jesina.
The night would end with Rusty Staley and his #89 Camaro sweeping the evening in the barona speedway factory stocks and taking home the trophy 🏆
