TOWN OF NEWBURGH – Former Town of Newburgh Police Chief Charles “Charlie” Kehoe died Saturday. He was 79. Kehoe dedicated 32 years of service to the Town of Newburgh community. He began his law enforcement career in 1977 and retired in 2009 after a distinguished career of public service.

POUGHKEEPSIE – City police have arrested four men in connection with the murder of a man at a soccer match in a city park on April 19. The murder took place at a well-attended soccer match at Stitzel Field on Lincoln Avenue around 6:40 pm, and claimed the life of 46-year-old Carl Chambers of Marlboro in Ulster County.

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Pelton Manor property in the Mount Carmel neighborhood of Poughkeepsie has received $1.25 million of New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) funding to move forward with the creation of a new multi-family rental community. The funding is part of the $9.7 million in DRI funding that was awarded to the City of Poughkeepsie to move forward with 10 projects that Governor Hochul says will upgrade civic, commercial, and cultural spaces while also building more housing “to drive down costs” in neighborhoods.

KINGSTON – The major sewer and stormwater system construction project on Flatbush and Foxhall Avenues in Kingston is beginning.

“The first step in the Flatbush and Foxhall streetscape project is to make extensive repairs to the sewer and stormwater system below the streets,” said Mayor Steven Noble. “Before construction can begin, we need to make these necessary infrastructure repairs. We know this work will be disruptive, so we want residents to understand the extent and duration of this project, which is expected to take two full constructions season to complete.”
