Hi y'all 👋 So I truly despise the "pillows" and water that gathers creating grossness on the tarp!! So we came up with this redneck idea!!
Note:
1) The pillows always deflated and I have never heard about the "displacement" of cold water to keep side of pool from blowing out (neither has hubby who has lived near Detroit most of his life and had pools prior to ours) and water has never frozen
2) The ickiness created by the water pockets on top and trying to siphon was a pain in the patooty and it truly annoyed me
3) this is 3rd year of attempting something similar but think this time worked out ... we shall see 🤷‍♀️
4) the ladder has not frozen/cracked the previous 2 years and it's not our main entry to pool anymore - we just store away during summer

You dont "need" to cover your pool for winter.
We are surrounded by woods, swamp, our farm, crops as well as in a high wind area and dont cover our18x38 doughboy for winter.
-A leaf net goes on to keep debris out in the fall.
-Once leaves are off trees and crops have been taken out of the fields, we remove the leaf cover.
-Pump stays on until we decide to drain the water below the skimmer and unhook pump in October.
-We wont close until water temps are around 60*
-I vacuum it if needed
It freezes solid in the winter

We open it in April and the water will be crystal clear with minimum sediment in the bottom. A quick vacuum, shock & turn on the pump...we will be off and running for pool season.
Remember to read your liner warranty. Ours personally, covers a replacement in all weather regardless of a winter cover.

Anyone have suggestions on what pool cover to use. We bought this house and it came like this with deck built right up to it.
Last year we just did a tarp and screwed into the deck but personally didn’t hold up well.
This summer we got a new liner and wanting to have a better cover/system to close this year!
We will be doing pool pillows but still need a cover. Any thoughts appreciated-

Such a sad day in South Jersey took me all day to close pool winterized andshut it down till next spring trying this new cover out it cost enough money hope its worth it. Welp till next spring have a good winter everyone.

Not something you see everyday. Evidently this image has gone a bit viral, but this is a friend of mines house. She hit me up wondering if I knew what might cause it. The flex was pulling about 175 amps and was at 1200 degrees. There's to be a whole news story on it and everything.

I am a little puzzled by this fence
I am at my son’s home in Mountain Home, ID. I was surprised to see what I think are Chain Link Fence poles used on wood fencing. I have done a lot of traveling and am from the east, but have not seen this before. Is this a ‘think’ in this area of the country or is there a reason the fence is built like this. I might also add that every fence I have seen in this city is this way, no chain link anywhere. If someone could enlighten me, it would be much appreciated. Have a good weekend.......
