Ok since my last post everyone is asking how I do my solar cover and where i got the reel from. So here is a video and the link will be in the comments. When I know I am going to vacuum the pool I will hose it down before I reel it up so like clean it once week. Also my solar cover is on my pool unless I am in it so my water does not evaporate uses less chemicals and less maintenance and sits about 84 degrees or higher. I only run my pump from dusk until dawn which saves me energy. If you have more questions please ask I am willing to help.

I have a 30ft round above ground pool with deck all around and I want to use sand bags to hold cover down. I was given a 30ft round cover but not sure that there will be enough extra on the outside to lay sand bags on securely. We already tried the cable but it's too windy where we are and it was a huge fail. What size cover do you recommend when using sand bags to hold down?

UPDATE! Yes I read all 534 comments tonight!!!! Y’all are the best!!!! I’ve been laughing so hard at the comments I’m probably shaking the camper. Hope I don’t wake up my son and his family. They are camping with me. It’s 12:32 (after midnight) and I should be sleeping but your comments are making me laugh SOOOO HARD!!!!
The pool water distorted my toenail in the picture but I’m happy to have made your evening so entertaining 😊. Oh, just so you know? I spent $100 this past Monday on a mani/pedi. Now, go to sleep, if you can stop laughing 😀

Edit…(apologies to someone) Peroxide believe it or not! Crystal clear water! Details: due to my husband and youngest, the chlorine irritated their skin to much. So we shock once a week, keep PH in balance and use 35% food grade peroxide. World of difference.
Shock is Sunday night, we do not swim until the Following weekend. Still will go with peroxide. Have a great 4th!

Three weeks ago my husband had a heart attack. Thank God, he did not have to have any invasive surgeries, but it has really taken a toll on him. His energy level has been non-existent. Today, I was so happy and excited to see him WANT to get in the pool. I call it healing therapy.

This time last year I was defeated and was completely over this pool. Only had a couple of uses last year and it turned green on us. Nothing I did was working. Shocking, chemicals, filtering and the whole nine yards. Felt like I spent a ton of money for absolutely nothing. At the end of the year I ended up draining. Flash forward to this summer and I had a much better experience. We've used it much more and the only notable difference is I only used less chemicals and threw in these 2 copper pieces in the filter. My wife found something on social media about using copper to help fight algae. Now before I get attacked here for using a non traditional method I honestly don't care lol. Call it troll magic or whatever but whatever I'm doing it's working and I've been able to enjoy my pool clear water all summer.
