Peacock Lane is a narrow, cobbled passage in the picturesque fishing village of Robin Hoods Bay, North Yorkshire.

Its original street lamp (pictured on the left) still remains - these oil or gas lamps were crucial for preventing falls on the uneven cobblestones.

The 800 year old Beaulieu Abbey, Hampshire was founded by King John in the 13th Century.

The abbey became one of the wealthiest Cistercian houses in England, but it met its demise during the Dissolution of the Monasteries under King Henry VIII in 1538. Its impressive ruins remain today.

Great Court, the main court of Trinity College in Cambridge, drawn in 1886 compared to today, 138 years later.

It's reputed to be the largest enclosed courtyard in Europe. The central Fountain was built in 1601, designed in a classical style. Sir Isaac Newton is also believed to have had rooms in the Great Court, during his time here as a student.

Very little has changed to Braemar Castle, Scotland in the last 100 years or so.

The fortified tower house, built in 1628, was burned in the Jacobite Rising of 1689, then it was rebuilt. Set within a curtain wall, its main purpose was to defend against the neighbouring Farquharson clan of Inverey.
