JOKE OF THE DAY: Three convicts were on the way to prison.

They were each allowed to take one item with them to help them occupy their time while incarcerated. On the bus, one turned to another and said, "So, what did you bring?"

The second convict pulled out a box of paints and stated that he intended to paint anything he could. He wanted to become the "Grandma Moses of Jail." Then he asked the first, "What did you bring?"

The first convict pulled out a deck of cards and grinned and said, "I brought cards. I can play poker, solitaire, gin, and any number of games."

The third convict was sitting quietly aside, grinning to himself. The other two took notice and asked, "Why are you so smug? What did you bring?"

The guy pulled out a box of tampons and smiled. He said, "I brought these."

An elderly woman spent the entire summer and autumn covering the roof of her house with sharp wooden stakes. The entire village was convinced she had lost her mind… until winter finally arrived 😨😱

Day after day, week after week, she climbed onto the roof and added more of the pointed spikes. Their numbers kept growing. From afar, the house looked disturbing—almost threatening. At first, people simply stared. Soon, the whispers began.

“Have you seen her house?”
“Yes… Ever since her husband died, she hasn’t been the same.”

Her husband had passed away a year earlier, leaving her completely alone. She spoke to no one now, kept to herself. And this strange behavior only seemed to confirm what the neighbors already believed—something was wrong.

As the days passed, the rumors grew darker.

Some claimed she was trying to protect herself from evil forces.
Others said it was some kind of bizarre renovation.
The boldest insisted she had started a cult inside her own home.

“No normal person would do that to a roof,” people muttered outside the village shop.
“It’s all sharp, like a trap. Just looking at it makes your skin crawl.”

What no one noticed was the care behind her work.

She chose every single stake herself, using only dry, solid wood. She sharpened each one at a precise angle. She installed them slowly and methodically, making sure each piece was firmly secured. She knew her roof intimately—every weak spot, every place that needed extra reinforcement.

Finally, someone couldn’t hold their curiosity any longer and asked her directly,
“Why are you doing this? Are you afraid of someone?”

She looked up and answered calmly,
“This is my protection.”

“Protection from who?” they pressed.

“From what’s coming,” she replied.

She said nothing else.

Then winter arrived—and suddenly, everyone understood why the old woman had spent all summer and autumn preparing her roof 😨😱
