বাংলা একাডেমি সাহিত্য পুরস্কার প্রদান অনুষ্ঠানে পুরস্কৃতদের পেছনে দাঁড় করিয়ে ফটোসেশন করা প্রসঙ্গে বরেণ্য লেখক ও প্রাবন্ধিক সলিমুল্লাহ খান বলেছেন– ‘লোকজন বলছে, আপনি পুরস্কার নিলেন কেন?’ আরে.. পুরস্কার নেওয়ার পরেই তো বেইজ্জতটা করছে। বাংলা একাডেমি যদি সম্মান প্রদর্শন করতে না জানে, তাহলে আমাদের কী করা উচিত?

রোববার (২ ফেব্রুয়ারি) ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের কেন্দ্রীয় গ্রন্থাগারের পাশে হাকিম চত্বরে জাতীয় কবিতা উৎসবের সমাপনী দিনে আয়োজিত এক সেমিনারে তিনি এ কথা বলেন।

এর আগে, শনিবার (১ ফেব্রুয়ারি) বিকেলে অমর একুশে বইমেলার উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে বাংলা একাডেমি সাহিত্য পুরস্কার প্রদান করা হয়। এরপর পুরস্কৃতদের পেছনে দাঁড় করিয়ে সারা হয় পুরস্কারের ফটোসেশন পর্ব, যা নিয়ে সামাজিকমাধ্যমে ব্যাপক সমালোচনার সৃষ্টি হয়।

এ প্রসঙ্গে সলিমুল্লাহ খান বলেন, বাংলা একাডেমির পুরস্কার প্রদানের অনুষ্ঠান নিয়ে অনেকে ট্রল করছে। আমাকে জিজ্ঞেস করছে, ছাত্রদের সামনে বসিয়ে আপনারা পেছনে দাঁড়িয়ে ছিলেন কেন? আমি বলেছি, তারা ক্ষমতার প্রতীক হিসেবে বসেছে। বাংলা একাডেমি যদি মানুষকে সম্মান প্রদর্শন করতে না জানে, আমরা তাদের বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করব নাকি?

বাংলা একাডেমি ও আয়োজকদের সমালোচনা করে এই প্রাবন্ধিক লেখক বলেন, এখানেও দাসত্বের অবসান করতে হবে। দাসত্বের অবসান করতে হলে সবাইকে এক করতে হবে।

অযোগ্য কাউকে ক্ষমতায় পেলে কিংবা পদমর্যাদায় কাউকে উপরে উঠানো হলে কি হয়?
মোল্লা নাসিরুদ্দিনের একটা পোষা গাধা ছিল। একদিন মোল্লা সাহেব গাধাটিকে নিয়ে ছাদে উঠেছেন। এরপর এক পর্যায়ে দেখা শীতল সমীরণ বইছে। ছাদে এমন ঠান্ডা হাওয়া বইছে দেখে, গাধা নিচে নামতে চাইছে না।। অনেক চেষ্টা করেও গাধাকে নিচে নামানো যাচ্ছে না।। অবশেষে কি আর করা! মোল্লা সাহেব নিজেই ছাদ হতে নেমে এসে গাধার জন্য অপেক্ষা করতে থাকেন।।
ঘন্টা খানেক অতিক্রান্ত, তবুও গাধা নিচে এল না।। মোল্লা আবার ছাদে গিয়ে গাধাকে নামিয়ে আনার চেষ্টা করতে থাকেন।। কিন্তু কিছুতেই কাজ হল না।। মোল্লা হতাশ হয়ে নিচে নেমে এলেন।।
মোল্লা নাসিরুদ্দিন বুঝতে পারলেন, গাধা ছাদের উপর দুই পায়ে সজোরে লাথি মেরে চলেছে।। বহুদিনের পুরানো একটি ছাদ, একেবারে জরাজীর্ণ অবস্থা।। যে কোন সময় ছাদ ভেঙ্গে পড়তে পারে।।
মোল্লা নাসিরউদ্দিন আরও একবার শেষ প্রচেষ্টা চালিয়ে গেলেন,, এবং এবারেও যথারীতি গাধাটিকে নিচে নামাতে ব্যর্থ হলেন।এদিকে গাধা লাগাতার ছাদে লাথি মেরে চলেছে।। পরিস্থিতি এমন পর্যায়ে পৌঁছে গেছে যে, জরাজীর্ণ ছাদ যে কোন সময় ভেঙ্গে পড়তে পারে।।
মোল্লা ছাদে গিয়ে ধাক্কা মেরে গাধাকে নিচে আনার চেষ্টা করলেন।। কিন্তু এবার গাধা নিজেই সজোরে মোল্লাকে লাথি মেরে ছাদের নিচে ফেলে দিল। মোল্লা হাল ছেড়ে দিয়ে চুপচাপ উঠানে বসে পড়লেন।।
কিছুক্ষণ পর ছাদ ভেঙ্গে গাধা নিচে পড়ে গেল। গাধা ভীষণ আঘাতপ্রাপ্ত হয়ে পড়েছে।। গোটা শরীর রক্তাক্ত হয়ে গাধাটি ভাঙা ছাদের নিচে চাপা পড়ে রয়েছে।।
মোল্লা বিড়বিড় করে বলেন, “গাধাকে কোনদিন উচ্চাসনে বসাতে নেই।। গাধা উঁচু আসনের মর্যাদা বোঝে না।। তাকে বসালে সে ঐ জায়গাটা ধ্বংস করে দেবে।।
আসন তো যাবেই, গাধা নিজেও পড়ে গিয়ে রক্তাক্ত হয়ে যাবে।।"
মূলকথাঃ যিনি ক্ষমতারোহণের যোগ্যতা রাখেন না, তাকে সে আসনে পেলে বিপর্যয় অনিবার্য।

হুমায়ূন আহমেদের সাক্ষাতকার নেয়ার সময় অভিনেতা ও সাংবাদিক মাহফুজ আহমেদ একটি প্রশ্ন করেছিল।

প্রশ্নটি ছিল : ‘'এ দেশের বুদ্ধিজীবীদের ভূমিকা সম্পর্কে আপনার অভিমত কি?’'
হুমায়ূন আহমেদের সাবলীল উত্তরঃ
“আমাদের বুদ্ধিজীবী সমাজে যাঁরা আছেন, তাদের কার্যক্রম খুব একটা পরিষ্কার না। এরা কেন জানি ইসলাম ধর্মকে খুব ছোট করে দেখতে অভ্যস্ত হয়ে গেছেন।
হিন্দু, বৌদ্ধ, খ্রিষ্টান অন্য যে কোন ধর্মের প্রায় সব উৎসবে আমাদের বুদ্ধিজীবীরা উপস্থিত থাকেন, বক্তৃতা করেন, বাণী দেন- কিন্তু ইসলামি কোন জলসায় কেউ উপস্থিত থেকেছেন বলে শোনা যায় না। তাদের মতে, ইসলামি জলসায় কেউ উপস্থিত থাকা মানে তার বুদ্ধিবৃত্তিও নিম্নমানের। সে একজন প্রতিক্রিয়াশীল, সাম্প্রদায়িক লোক। আমাদের বুদ্ধিজীবীদের কাছে হিন্দু, বৌদ্ধ বা খ্রিষ্টানদের কোন অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত থাকার অর্থ মুক্তবুদ্ধির চর্চা করা, প্রগতির চর্চা করা, সংস্কারমুক্ত হওয়া ইত্যাদি।

প্রফেসর আবদুস সালাম ঢাকায় এসে যখন বক্তৃতার শুরুতে ‘বিসমিল্লাহির রাহমানির রাহিম’ বললেন, তখন আমাদের বুদ্ধিজীবীরা হকচকিয়ে গেলেন। কারণ তাদের কাছে প্রগতিশীল হওয়া, বুদ্ধিজীবী হওয়া, মুক্তবুদ্ধির চর্চা করা মানেই ইসলামবিরোধী হতে হবে। তাদের কাছে রামকৃষ্ণের বাণী, যিশুর বাণী সবই গ্রহণীয়। এসব তারা উদাহরণ হিসেবেও ব্যবহার করেন; কিন্তু হজরত মোহাম্মদের (সা) বাণী কখনও তাদের মুখ থেকে শোনা যায় না। তাদের কাছে হজরত মোহাম্মদের (সা) বাণী গ্রহণযোগ্য নয়। এটি সেকেলে।

আমার মতে, পৃথিবীর তাবৎ ঔপন্যাসিক যার কোটের পকেট থেকে বেরিয়ে এসেছেন, তার নাম দস্তয়ভস্কি। আরেকজন হলেন, লিও টলস্টয়। এক রেলস্টেশনে যখন টলস্টয় মারা গেলেন, তখন তাঁর ওভারকোটের পকেটে একটি বই পাওয়া গেছে। বইটি ছিল টলস্টয়ের খুব প্রিয়। সব সময় সঙ্গে রাখতেন। সময় পেলেই পড়তেন। বইটিতে হজরত মোহাম্মদ সাঃ এর বিভিন্ন সময়ে বলা ইন্টারেস্টিং কথাগুলো নিয়ে গ্রন্থিত।
আমি বিনয়ের সঙ্গে আমাদের বুদ্ধিজীবীদের কাছে জানতে চাইছি, আপনাদের ক’জন বইটি পড়েছেন? টলস্টয় যে বইটি পকেটে নিয়ে ঘুরে বেড়াতেন, সে বই আমাদের প্রত্যেকের একবার কি পড়া উচিত নয়? আমার মতে, প্রতিটি শিক্ষিত ছেলেমেয়ের বইটি পড়া উচিত।”
