An intimate tour of quintessential Provencal style, featuring chic homes and interior details inspired by this picturesque region.

With her exquisite home serving as an archetypal starting point, Shauna Varvel goes on to explore the architectural and interior elements that are part of the reinvented Provençal aesthetic. Featuring a selection of homes created by noted interior designers, Provence Style beautifully illustrates the textures, furnishings, fabrics, color pairings, motifs, and accents that define each area, from kitchens, living spaces, bedrooms, and bathrooms to garden terraces and courtyards.

“As Pierre just happens to have a decorator at home, he and Jacques .grange both got down to work. They love working together, and have collaborated on many projects, but this one was particularly fun. Pierre didn’t hold back when decorating this house. He doesn’t feel limited by any preconceptions; it’s simply his home, and he lets himself be guided by his intuition and sharp professional eye.”

“While I was there, I visited a friend in Southampton. She recommended that I stop by Southampton College, where I met the director of the Fine Arts Department. The artworks I’d made while traveling earned me a scholarship, and after graduating in 1978, I started exhibiting in the city and on eastern Long Island.” After a brief move back to Hawaii, Miller returned to Southampton. “I’ve been here ever since.”

“The most beautiful magazine in the world.” – Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

Founded by Franco Maria Ricci (FMR) in Italy in 1982, FMR is the ultimate art magazine, an art insider’s treasure trove and a touchstone in the formation of personal taste for the past half century.
This superbly produced book, featuring some 300 images as well as concise chapter intros and acute captions illuminating the entire history of the sumptuous black-background magazine, is itself a true collector’s item. Ricci traversed the boundaries of art, architecture, and design, and his unprecedented magazine became an unequivocal success, its British, French, Spanish, and Italian editions combining to make it the world’s largest art magazine of its heyday.
FMR is cherished by curators and gallerists around the world for its presentation of daringly bold world art of every description and contributions from some of the world’s greatest writers. Paused in 2009, the quarterly publication was revived in 2021 and today continues to be read internationally by discerning readers and art lovers, leading the growing return to luxury printed publications.

This book, filled with the very best of FMR, is essential for art lovers seeking to expand their knowledge, taste, and imagination.

“His Ibizan finca contains a whimsical collection of pieces from his years living in New York, Paris, and Egypt, where he sources his own finds, explaining, “I prefer to buy Egyptian and Moroccan pieces in their place of origin, rather than from Paris antiques markets.” The house embraces these objects, which share its original and authentic character."

"Shortly after her marriage, Luisa Beccaria, the indefatigable Milanese couturier, fell in love with Sicily. It was perhaps inevitable, because for her husband, Lucio Bonaccorsi dei Principi di Reburdone, these sunbaked plains above the city of Noto are an extension of who he is. Together, over the past twenty-five years, this remarkable couple has reinvigorated the land and rebuilt the walls of their eighteenth-century Feudo di Castelluccio."

"Spectacular views of Central Park are the highlight of this family retreat. We mirrored the window returns to increase the outlook and snaked a long sofa to face the park from every angle. The vintage Italian chairs are easy to move around as needed. The table is a commission from Mira Nakashima."

“My family tries to follow healthy eating habits, and I limit my children’s exposure to unhealthy and sugary foods. When I host a playdate, I offer only healthy treats; I don’t want to give the children too much sugar, as it can make them unruly and overly energetic! I also tell my children that if another parent is more lenient with sugar-filled treats, they should take only one.”

Step into the airy, light-filled, exquisitely detailed homes of the Florida-based firm Moor Baker Architects in this first book on their work.
As the eleven projects featured in this first monograph of their work demonstrate, Moor Baker is an “everything matters” firm, down to the doorknobs and hinges. They care about craftsmanship, about choosing materials that improve with age, and, most important, about designing homes that their clients will cherish. Based in Florida, their architecture is exemplary for warm climes, emphasizing airiness, openness, and indoor-outdoor living.

“On a summer visit to the East End in 1996, I met my husband and for the next fifteen summers we lived on our sailboat, Blue, moored off Shelter Island. In 2012, we built a house on the island and came here on weekends for work retreats. The landscape, with its shifting contours and colors, had such an effect on my work that I was inspired to build a studio. In the fall of 2022, after working in the city for over thirty years, I made the dramatic move here full-time.” .moser

“When I visited his home at the Palais-Royal, Jacques Grange .grange simply opened the door, gave me a quick tour, and then left me alone for as much time as I needed. The house is divided into two floors connected by a staircase designed by Grange and inspired by Le Corbusier. The structure adds a rebellious touch to the building’s architecture. Once home to the writer Colette, the house—although completely renovated—still nods to its previous owner: Jacques owns the chaise longue where the famous writer received her friends, enjoying the perfectly symmetrical views of the Palais-Royal.”
