I am pleased to announce the upcoming release of my new book, "From Founding Father Alexander Hamilton to Vice President Kamala Harris," on September 25, 2026. www.hermanghall.com. Consider getting it for your children and grandchildren. This compelling hardcover book explores the profound impact of Caribbean immigrants and their descendants on American history. As the USA continues celebrating its 250th year of independence, recognizing the Caribbean contributions is essential. Kirkus Reviews notes that the book "presents intriguing biographies of dozens of Caribbean Americans and their descendants" and provides "a cornucopia of Caribbean and NYC history … engaging and joyful."
Readers who purchase the Pre-Order Bundle or Book Only option will receive their copy before the official public release. Visit www.hermanghall.com.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH 2026-FINAL DAY-Everybody’s Magazine: As Black History Month 2026 ends, Everybody’s Magazine reflects on our daily presentations of milestones in Caribbean and Caribbean-American history. While Canada also observes Black History Month, a common misconception remains that the month focuses solely on the African American narrative.
This week, we celebrated several significant dates: St. Lucia’s Independence Day on February 22, Guyana’s Republic Day on February 23, and the Dominican Republic Independence and Republic Day on February 27. It would be fitting if nations like Grenada and St. Lucia officially designated their independence months as their respective "History Month." However, such recognition often requires advocacy from academia or international influencers to take hold.
Many libraries in the U.S., UK and Canada, and EVERYBODY’S Magazine subscribers, have already ordered Herman G. Hall’s new book, "From Alexander Hamilton to Kamala Harris." We thank you. The official release date is July 4, 2026.

BHM-DAY 26 – Everybody’s Magazine: Most musicians who back up artists in recording studios and at concerts remain largely unknown, though their names occasionally appear in credit lines. Calypso fans may recognize the name "Sunshine Diaz" on the bass guitar credits for albums by legends such as Sparrow, Lord Nelson, Shadow, Baron, Becket, and David Rudder. Beyond the studio, fans have seen Sunshine Diaz playing guitar or conducting bands at countless concerts throughout the Caribbean.
He performed at Mother’s Day Calypso shows, in Sparrow’s celebrated concerts and in Everybody’s Magazine Brooklyn calypso tents. He played at the magazine’s numerous concerts and headlined our 20th anniversary event at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center.
Sunshine was the product of a rich musical legacy. His father, the late Cyril Diaz, led one of the premier calypso bands in Trinidad & Tobago from the 1950s through the 1970s. One of Sunshine's brothers also carried on the tradition, focusing on calypso music in Japan.
Let’s hope that one day a researcher will document the musicians behind the scenes in calypso – the names Art DeCoteau, George Victory, Errol Ince, Frankie MacIntosh and Don “Sunshine” Diaz will glow.
I visited Sunshine this past December while he was recuperating in a rehabilitation center, unaware that it would be our final conversation. Calypso fans, artists, musicians, producers, and arrangers will gather to say goodbye to Sunshine on Friday, Feb. 27, at Guarino Funeral Home, 9222 Flatlands Ave., Brooklyn.
