WMU police did 2 welfare checks on Marshawn Kneeland

Western Michigan University police were twice called to perform welfare checks on Marshawn Kneeland while he played for the school, including by coaches who worried about him possessing a gun, according to records obtained by ESPN.

Kneeland, a defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys, died Nov. 6 of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Frisco, Texas. He was 24. The documents obtained by ESPN via an open-records request show that there were concerns about his mental health as early as 2020.

One incident, in June 2023, came 10 months before Dallas picked him in the second round of the NFL draft. Western Michigan coach Lance Taylor and then-defensive coordinator Lou Esposito called police with a "concern that [Kneeland] recently separated from his girlfriend" and that they "wanted to make sure he was mentally fit to possess a firearm," according to a campus police report.

Patriots’ Stefon Diggs accused of sexual battery by influencer in complaint

A complaint filed against Patriots star Stefon Diggs alleges sexual battery, battery, conspiracy, intentional infliction of emotional distress and defamation.

Christopher Blake Griffith, an online influencer and stylist who claims Diggs hired him to help promote and design his fashion label, filed the claims and alleges Diggs drugged and attempted to sexually assault him at Diggs’ Maryland home on May 22, 2023, and then conspired to kill him.

Griffith originally made the allegations on Instagram in August, and Diggs subsequently filed a libel lawsuit against Griffith, accusing him of concocting a fake story. Griffith filed the counterclaims on Friday in Maryland federal court.
Chris Griffith is going to have his say and is looking forward to getting justice for the sexual and physical attacks perpetrated against him,” Griffith’s lawyer, Jake Lebowitz of Posey Lebowitz PLLC, told The Post in a statement.

In the suit, obtained by The Post, Griffith alleges Diggs “intentionally drugged” him and then “made unwanted sexual advances toward” Griffith, including “exposing his genitalia” and “attempting to kiss” him “on the mouth.” Griffith alleges Diggs “sexually battered” him “by grabbing hold” of his shoulder, pulling him closer and kissing his ear with his tongue. Then, Griffith alleges a week later he was attacked by three of Diggs’ “close associates,” including his brother, Darez.

Bears top 3 LBs Edmunds, Edwards, Sewell out against Steelers
The Chicago Bears will face the Pittsburgh Steelers without their entire starting linebacker unit on Sunday.

Tremaine Edmunds, T.J. Edwards, and Noah Sewell were ruled out on Friday after not practicing all three days this week. Edwards is recovering from hand surgery while still dealing with a hamstring injury while Edmunds injured his groin late in the fourth quarter of Chicago's 19-17 win at Minnesota.

Sewell also sustained an elbow injury against the Vikings after leading the Bears in tackles.
Chicago will turn to reserve linebackers D'Marco Jackson and rookie Ruben Hyppolite II, who have played a combined 50 snaps on defense this season. The Bears also have linebackers Amen Ogbongbemiga and Jalen Reeves-Maybin, who was signed to the practice squad from Detroit this week. Ogbongbemiga has only played on special teams since coming off injured reserve while Reeves-Maybin has yet to log a snap this season.

The Bears listed left tackle Theo Benedet (quad) and safety Jaquan Brisker (shoulder) as questionable for Week 12. Benedet was a full participant in practice on Wednesday but was downgraded to limited on Thursday and Friday. Brisker was a full participant on Thursday and Friday.

And while cornerbacks Jaylon Johnson (groin) and Kyler Gordon (calf) were full participants in practice Friday, they will not be activated from injured reserve this week, sources told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The Bears are hopeful to activate both cornerbacks for next week's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. They have until Dec. 5 to activate Johnson to the 53-man roster and until Dec. 10 to do the same with Gordon.

Colts' Ward experienced severe concussion symptoms for weeks
INDIANAPOLIS -- Colts cornerback Charvarius Ward was "knocked out" and experienced severe symptoms for weeks after he was concussed during a violent pregame collision last month, he said in his first interview since the incident.

Ward, a 2023 second-team All-Pro, cleared the concussion protocol Friday and was activated from injured reserve Saturday after practicing this week ahead of the Colts' visit to Kansas City to play the Chiefs on Sunday. But it's been a long road to get to this point.

Ward was warming up with an assistant coach before a game against the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 12 when, while backpedaling, he collided with tight end Drew Ogletree. The forceful collision, which happened while Ward was moving at a high speed, left him motionless on the ground.

Chris Paul hints at retirement from NBA with video before Clippers-Hornets game in his home state
Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul hinted his potential retirement prior to the team’s game against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday in what would be his final game in his home state of North Carolina.

The Winston-Salem, North Carolina, native released a video on social media about 90 minutes before tipoff showing highlights of him playing for several NBA teams throughout his 21-year professional career. The video also includes Paul from childhood through high school and his days playing at Wake Forest and getting drafted into the league.

College football scores, live updates: Week 13 schedule features Texas, Notre Dame, Michigan in action
With just over two weeks remaining until the 12-team College Football Playoff bracket is released, time is running out for teams to make a last-minute impression to secure an at-large spot in the field.

One of those teams that will likely have to win out and get some help along the way is No. 13 Miami. Because the Hurricanes have two losses in ACC play, reaching the conference title game -- and therefore getting into the CFP via an automatic bid -- is very unlikely.
