The U.S. government is moving to evacuate American passengers from a cruise ship linked to a deadly hantavirus outbreak.

A CDC team is in the Canary Islands assessing exposure and monitoring needs.

Passengers will return on a U.S. medical repatriation flight to the National Quarantine Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center for monitoring.

Additional CDC personnel will support health assessments at nearby Offutt Air Force Base.
