We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of the greatest scholars of our time โ Faqihul Millat, Hafizul Hadith, and former Vice Chancellor of Al-Azhar University, Professor Dr. Ahmad Umar Hashim (Rahimahullah).
Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Rajiโun.
A true ocean of knowledge, he had over one hundred thousand hadith memorized a living example of scholarship and devotion. His life was a beacon of light for the Ummah, and his passing marks the loss of a radiant star in the world of Islamic knowledge. The death of a true scholar is indeed like the death of the world itself, for the Prophet ๏ทบ said that when knowledge is taken away, ignorance prevails and it is through the departure of such scholars that this happens.
May Allah accept his lifelong service to Deen, forgive his shortcomings, and grant this noble scholar the highest ranks in Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah also bless the Ummah with worthy successors to continue his legacy.
