Early detection SAVES lives~ there’s currently no single screening test for early ovarian cancer, but there is Mammogram X-ray that detects breast cancer early on.
This is a reminder to book your screening today.
Science backed up research findings:
1. Improved breast cancer survival following introduction of an organized mammography screening program among both screened and unscreened women: a population‑based cohort study — Kalager M., Haldorsen T., Bretthauer M., et al.; published 2009. Found that introduction of an organised mammography screening programme improved survival.
2. Screening for breast cancer with mammography — Olsen O. & Gøtzsche P.C.; published 2011. Systematic review estimated a ~15% relative risk reduction in breast-cancer mortality in the best-quality trials.
3. Mammographic screening: evidence from randomised controlled trials — Duffy S.W., Tabár L., et al.; published 2019. Review of RCTs showing invited-to-screen arms had about 25% mortality reduction compared with controls.
4. Association of Mammography Screening With a Reduction in Breast Cancer Mortality: A Modeling Study Using Population‑Based Data From 2 French Departments — Author(s) of the modelling study; published 2020 (Oct). Found a measurable reduction in breast-cancer mortality associated with mammography screening in population data.
5. Annual mammographic screening to reduce breast cancer mortality in women from age 40 years: long‑term follow‑up of the UK Age RCT — Duffy S., Vulkan D., Cuckle H., Parmar D., et al.; published 2020. Found that annual screening from age 40-49 resulted in reduced breast-cancer mortality, though effect attenuated after 10 years.
