This photograph was taken with an old-styled Polaroid land camera in 1959 at a location on north Damen Ave. which no longer exists. It shows a real girl standing on the stairs and this strange mist-like substance which seems to be exuding from her stomach region and collecting along the entire stairway. Some parts are translucent while others seem visually opaque. This may be a psychic photograph; in other words ectoplasm being produced by a living person.
Additional new information: A recent email from the person in the picture sheds more light on this most unusual picture.
"My parents had bought a real old Mansion that had been turned into a roomy house at that time. The rooming house was located on Damen Ave across the street from Wicker Park in Chicago. There were all kinds of stories about things in that old Mansion. Someone had hung themselves in the basement a long time before we bought the Mansion. The basement had a dirt floor it was so old. The dress I was wearing was found in a old trunk in the basement. It had been left there by a women who did an old vaudeville act. My mother used to let me play with lots of old stuff that I found in that old building. There were secret passages, going from a room to another room. It was a very interesting place to live."

Two sisters took this photograph at their father’s home about 15 years ago. At the time, neither noticed anything unusual in the background.

Years later, while going through a box of old family photographs, one of the sisters came across the picture again. Upon looking closely, she noticed what appeared to be a strange, shadowy figure or apparition in the background.

The sisters were surprised by the discovery because they had no memory of anyone being there when the photograph was taken. The identity and nature of the figure remain unexplained, making the old photograph a particularly intriguing family myst

It’s no secret that the Phoenix Saloon in Texas is rumoured to be haunted. For years, the staff and guests have reported supernatural events in the popular bar, such as windows and doors opening and closing on their own, the sound of footsteps, a chilly breeze, and a shadowy man walking down a second floor hallway. Many believe the paranormal activity is caused by the ghost of John Sippel, the man who built the building in 1871. He was a tortured alcoholic who committed su***de after his wife left him for another man.
Another possible candidate is Walter Krause, a former owner of the saloon. He was killed in 1885 in a bar fight, so it seems likely his spirit could linger in the building. Some also suggest that the masonic lodge that was once housed on the third floor enacted some sinister secret rituals which caused the haunting.
However, in the photographs submitted by Sloan St. Clair, none of these theories seem to hold water. In these creepy photos, the shadowy entity that lurks around the saloon appears to be a woman. According to Sloan, there was no one else there that could have been responsible for the bizarre shadow, and regulars stated that the shadow woman is something of a fixture in the saloon. This photograph reportedly comes from a case in Oklahoma involving a family who claimed to have experienced a frightening encounter after using a Ouija board. According to the family, the sessions produced what they believed was a “Zozo” encounter, and they reported seeing a ball of fire or glowing object hovering in different areas of the house.

The photograph has been enlarged to highlight what some viewers interpret as a demonic-looking humanoid figure standing with its back toward the camera. Above the torso appears to be a skull-like head with what look like horns.

Around the middle of the figure, shapes resembling bony elbows or arms can be seen. Some viewers interpret the position of these shapes as though the figure is cradling a baby. A small shape resembling a baby's head appears above the figure's right shoulder.

The family reportedly had a baby living in the home at the time of the alleged Zozo activity, which is one reason the image has attracted particular attention.

The contrast in the inset has been increased to make the shapes and apparent features easier to see. While the image is certainly unusual and open to interpretation, the photograph itself does not establish that the figure is a demon, spirit, or paranormal entity.

This is a photograph of an unknown apparition that seemed to join my sisters and me during a weekend mountain retreat.

This presence has been with my family for many generations. I am the youngest of six children, so naturally, when my parents passed away, I always felt that he chose to follow me.

The photograph was taken in November of 1996. When I first had the film developed, I was shocked—and thrilled. For the first time, I felt that I finally had something that could validate what my family had always experienced and talked about.

I took the photograph to three different photography specialists. All three told me essentially the same thing: they could tell me what the image wasn't, but they couldn't explain what it actually was. They examined the photograph and found no apparent flaw in the film or the developing process, yet none of them could identify the figure. They were as amazed and puzzled as I was.

At one point, I even sent the photograph to the television show Sightings. They were very interested in investigating it, but they needed the original negative to help authenticate and examine the photograph. Unfortunately, the negative had become misplaced.

Years later, I found it.

I tried scanning the negative and emailing it along with the photograph. I'm not sure how well the scan came through, but I still have the original negative and the photograph.

Whatever people may believe about the image, I know what my family has experienced over the generations—and this photograph has always been one of the most remarkable pieces of evidence I've ever had.

My parents have lived in this house for 15 years and have always heard someone walking upstairs (day and night) in the master bedroom to the master bath. We always make jokes when we hear the ghost walking saying "oh there they go again, needing to go to the bathroom" But just a few weeks ago we were all sitting downstairs (no one upstairs) and we hear them walking then my mom got a notification on her camera upstairs that takes a picture when there is motion. And we finally caught this!
