Sanya On-Air Celebrity Interviews

🎭✨ NEW Sanya On-Air Interview! ✨🎭

I had an incredible conversation with playwright Kam Howard, and his story is the blueprint for grit meeting destiny. From Brooklyn to Hollywood, Kam has built a career rooted in hustle, faith, and undeniable talent — and get this… he sold out theaters WITHOUT television backing.

Kam credits entertainment icons like David E. Talbert and Tyler Perry for giving him the blueprint… but it was his Brooklyn hustle that turned that blueprint into a movement.

And it made me think…
👉 Who’s in your periphery igniting the excellence in YOU?
Who are you watching, learning from, or being sharpened by?

Kam’s journey is proof that alignment, mentorship, and consistency can open the kinds of doors TV can’t.

💥 And NOW, Kam Howard and his wife Lady Nicole’s stage play-turned-stage-play-film is officially STREAMING on Amazon Prime!

You do NOT want to miss this powerhouse production.

🎭 NEW Interview Drop! 🎭

I sat down with acclaimed playwright Margaret Bean for a candid conversation about one of the most overlooked challenges in the theater world: funding inequity for playwrights of color.

We hear about great plays and powerful voices, but what we don’t always see is the uphill battle to get the financial support these artists deserve. 🔍

Here’s the hard truth:
✨ People of color make up a significant portion of the U.S. population, yet arts funding for POC-serving organizations has historically been disproportionately low — with only around 4% of foundation arts funding going to POC-serving groups nationwide.
✨ In major theater hubs like NYC, theaters of color received only a tiny fraction of total funding compared to predominantly white institutions — for example, theaters of color got roughly $12.5M in both public and private funding vs. nearly $150M for larger white-led institutions.

Margaret breaks down what this really means for playwrights who are trying to create, sustain their craft, and bring important stories to life. 🎙️

🎭 NEW Sanya On-Air Interview! 🎭

I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Dr. Donald Variste for a powerful and transparent conversation about the hidden struggles many playwrights face.

People see the spotlight, but what they don’t see is the grind:
the late nights writing…
the producing…
the pitching…
the self-belief you must cling to even when the world tells you “no.”

Being a playwright is so much more than putting words on a page — it’s building a vision from scratch. And despite the challenges, Dr. Variste continues to rise.

His resilience has brought together two entertainment powerhouses — Drew Sidora (Real Housewives of Atlanta, The Game) and Pooch Hall (Ray Donovan, The Game) — who lead his newest and most urgent work, “Standing on Business.”

This must-see stage play shines a critical light on domestic violence, a reality impacting far too many families and communities.
