📣09/18/26: Emergency Preparedness for Cultural Organizations📣

As part of National Preparedness Month and in the lead up to Climate Week NYC, NYC Emergency Management and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs will host a webinar focused on helping cultural organizations prepare for, respond to, and recover from coastal storms and other climate-related emergencies.

The session will explore the foundations of emergency preparedness, essential communication strategies, community engagement considerations, and the disaster recovery process. Participants will learn how to develop communication strategies before disasters occur, assign staff communication roles, prepare pre-scripted emergency messaging, and identify organizational needs during response and recovery.

The webinar will also introduce NYC Emergency Management resources, including the Hazard Mitigation Plan and risk assessment tools, to help organizations better understand their local hazards and strengthen preparedness planning.
