FATHER AND STEPMOTHER CHARGED IN DEATH OF 10-YEAR-OLD GIRL — FATIMA KONE CASE IN DELAWARE 💔
On May 28, 2026, 10-year-old Fatima Kone was pronounced dead in Smyrna, Delaware, after suffering fatal injuries inside her home following a violent incident that occurred the night before, on May 27, 2026.
According to Delaware State Police and court records, Fatima’s father, 49-year-old Badara Kone, allegedly confronted her over a school-related money dispute, which escalated into physical violence. Prosecutors say she was struck with a belt during the incident and later suffered a severe head injury after falling and hitting furniture. Emergency help was delayed for hours before 911 was called, and she was declared dead shortly after.
Investigators later revealed signs of prior abuse involving Fatima’s siblings as well, expanding the case beyond a single incident. Her stepmother, 37-year-old Adiaratou Coulibaly, who initially fled the state, was later arrested in New York and returned to Delaware. Both defendants now face second-degree murder charges related to child abuse and neglect.
