Meghan made a appearance at Most Powerful Women Summit where she discussed her lifestyle brand during a session titled “Next Level Influence: A Conversation with Meghan, Duchess of Sussex” with Alyson Shontell, Editor-in-Chief of Fortune. She discussed the opportunities and challenges of life as a high-profile, highly scrutinised founder and how she plans to leverage her significant influence to build a successful, long-lasting business empire.
Reflecting on her personal journey, Meghan shared that the first years after leaving the U.K. were focused on healing for her family. She noted that many people assumed she would pursue fashion or beauty, but her true passions for cooking, entertaining, and connection inspired her to create As ever. She revealed that the idea grew out of her own experiences during the pandemic.
Meghan explained she spent a day in California with her children after Paris before traveling to New York & then Washington, D.C., for the summit. She shared anecdotes about chaperoning field trips and making time for her children, Archie and Lili.
When asked about financial independence, Meghan emphasised that it gives women the freedom to make choices and maintain autonomy. She highlighted the importance of financial literacy, especially for young girls, as a tool for empowerment. She also stressed that women supporting each other goes beyond individual help, when she in invests it’s about investing in each other’s legacies, businesses, and cultural impact.
Regarding the Sussexes Netflix deal, Meghan explained that their original overall agreement had concluded and evolved into a first-look deal through Archewell Productions. This new partnership gives them the flexibility and freedom to pitch projects to Netflix first, while also exploring opportunities with other platforms similar to the Obama deal.
