“Why do you work so hard? Why do you care so much about giving your kids a different life”

Because of what my younger self went through.

I grew up broker than a joke. We lived in a cockroach ridden apartment with holes in the walls, and all shared one bed for half of my childhood.

The other half was filled with chaos: abuse, drinking, and survival.

It has always been my goal to give my children a completely different childhood than I have. For them to be emotionally safe, for them to be heard and seen and loved.

But for years, I couldn’t figure out how to give them the one thing that mattered most — a present mom.

I worked 50+ hours a week as a nurse and still barely got by.
I missed moments.
I missed milestones.
And I felt trapped in the “American dream” that was anything but a dream
