Postcards from Oceanside, California 🌴

I got to travel here to speak at a conference and had a wonderful time ✨

1. After the conference, we went down to the beach
2. Thankful to for getting me to this point in my career

4. Got to walk all the way down the pier and have breakfast right by the ocean while watching the surfers

6. Got to go to the spa and relax 😌

• I’ve fallen more in love with my wonderful husband ❤️
• I started 🎉
• We were blessed to adopt 5 animals 🐱🐱🐱🐶🐶
• I traveled to Guatemala for 3 amazing weeks 🇬🇹
• I traveled to Washington, Louisiana, South Carolina, Missouri & Hawaii

LOWS
• we lost our sweet lab to cancer just a few days ago before she turned 2💔
• I’ve been actively working to overcome past trauma and that has just sucked tbh

I’m grateful for another year of exploring this beautiful world 🌎

• We lost our sweet lab to an aggressive cancer before she turned 2 💔
• I’ve been actively working on overcoming past trauma and it just sucks tbh

I am very grateful for this life and to have another year exploring this beautiful world 🌎

For anyone in the San Marcos, TX area‼️ this shelter has been WAY over capacity for far too long. We’ve gotten 3 dogs from them and now foster 7 cats (mom + 6 babies). All have been wonderful 🤍

SKIP PICTURE 4 if you feel deeply 💔

I have loved my time in Guatemala. I knew I would. But I have loved it even more than I though possible. If I could, I'd stay here for a month.

However, just like in the States, I feel deeply about everything and I wanted to share that part of traveling too.

I love the phrase "feels deeply" instead of "too emotional" and will now be using that to describe myself. 🫶

While I love the perfectly posed photo I didn’t think this hike needed one.

It was a tough journey filled with the most amazing people and I wanted to spend as much time enjoying it as possible rather than messing with my camera and tripod. 📸

➡️ If you’re interested in doing this hike, SAVE THIS POST because I’m gonna tell you things the tour companies will not.

1. Book a few weeks ahead of time and do research to find the best company for you. It’s difficult to get into a hike with short notice.

2. On top of all the clothes and supplies they tell you to bring, you NEED something to cover your mouth and nose to keep the dust out AND WIPES to clean the dirt off your face, hands and literally everywhere else.

3. Hiring a Porter to carry your bags is WORTH IT. (So is just getting a ride in the pickup truck 🤫) BUT if you do the walk you will make amazing friends from accomplishing it together.

4. You won’t sleep well up top at base camp. Bring ear plugs, headphones, and anything else you may need to try to sleep slightly better.

5. YOU CAN DO IT!! The guides stop about every 30 minutes for a break and if you start falling behind the group, one of the guides will never leave you. They will stay with you as long as you need.

6. Check to see if your tour company includes equipment. Don’t bring anything you don’t need to. Winter clothing takes up too much real estate in your bags.

7. You can buy water and snacks as you climb the volcano. There are little stands so you don’t have to carry 5 liters of water from the beginning.

8. If you love dogs, bring extra food/water to give them. There’s a lot and they are always thirsty. The mommas are very hungry as well since they’re feeding/carrying pups.
