In BP Fossella's effort to showcase the ways Staten Island can continue to support the film and television industry, this week he toured Broadway Stages, which has been the backdrop for major Hollywood production companies for movies and television. Broadway Stages was established in 1983 as a small music video production company with a single soundstage in Queens. Today, they have 60 soundstages in studios across NYC. In 2017, they purchased the 69-acre Arthur Kill Correctional Facility in Charleston with an initial investment of $7 million. During the tour, the Broadway Stages officials told BP Fossella about their plans to update and expand the campus. With one of five proposed soundstages completed and the construction of three additional stages underway, they are "prepared to meet the growing industry demand." BP Fossella is an advocate of welcoming production companies to Staten Island, hoping filmmakers, location scouts and others will consult Borough Hall's Film & TV Office as a resource to connect with the diverse locales we have to offer, including beaches, suburban streets, bustling urban streets, parks, college campuses and historic homes. We encourage those in the film industry to continue reaching out to our office and visit our SmugMug page to view all our locations at https://statenisland.smugmug.com/. If you are interested in listing your business or home as a film-friendly location, email Colleen Siuzdak at [email protected].
