It’s been two years since Chappell Roan dropped The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, and while fans have been fed with hits like “Good Luck, Babe!,” “The Giver,” and “The Subway,” her second album is still a ways off. In a new Vogue interview, Roan gets real: “I don’t think I make good music whenever I force myself to do anything... even if I was in the studio 12 hours a day, that does not mean you’d get an album any faster.”
But don’t panic, Princesses—there’s still plenty of Roan to go around. Her wild “Subway” video racked up nearly 4.5 million views in two days, and she’s currently lighting up stages across Europe before returning stateside for massive shows in NYC, Kansas City, and Pasadena. “This pace feels good,” she says. “I can finally be excited about going to work again.”
