I just wanted to make a few comments here about the passing of longtime animation writer and storyboard Artist Tony Benedict. As most people know, he was one of the few people still around in the 2020's who worked on the original early 1960's Hanna Barbera cartoons, Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, Atom Ant, Jetsons and later at Depatie Freleng working on the Pink Panther and many many more. In the later 1960's, he tried to create his own animated cartoon Christmas Special which was expanded to feature length for theaters called, Santa And The Three Bears (which he made with some moonlighting HB staffers). A few years back, I was sharing ideas with Tony on how to build some excitement to bring his Christmas cartoon to Direct To Video with some extras to fill out the value of the DVD, but nothing ever came of it. Entering the industry in the mid to late 80's, I was fortunate to have worked on some episodes that Tony had storyboarded for the Beany and Cecil revival on ABC. I recall his boards being loose and fun to work on and a dynamic springboard to create layouts from. He shared some great stories from Hanna Barberas golden era. He certainly will be missed. Rest In Peace Tony.

Much-loved Hanna-Barbera writer and storyboard artist Tony Benedict has passed away at the age of 89. Mark Evanier reported the news on his blog earlier this morning. Among his many credits were The Flintstones (he worked on all the episodes), Top Cat and The Jetsons. He also wrote and storyboarded....

I remember watching this at 11 years old, staying up at 11:30 pm to catch it. I can tell you that I had to beg my parents to stay up that late! It only aired once and have been looking for years to see if still existed to be able to view it again. Now many, many years later, 50 + years in fact, it finally showed up on you tube. This is the ABC Wide World Of Entertainment episode; Walt Disney: A Golden Anniversary Salute from 1973.
I remember this running a full hour and a half and caught every minute of it. Fortunately most of the commercials are missing, bringing this down to a cool 59 minutes. It was pretty much the way I remembered it, with Dean Jones formally dressed, walking around Main Street at Disneyland after hours. Jones hosts and features a few Disney Legends, Card Walker, Woolie Reitherman, Fred MacMurray, Ward Kimball and Annette Funicello, who talk about Walt. It even features a section of animation from their 'upcoming' animated feature, Robin Hood, that features a section of the film in various stages; storyboard to rough pencil animation to full color. Although the special is rough around the edges and not as slick as documentaries today go, it's still a fascinating insight with some of Disneys key players at the time. I figured some of you might really enjoy this.

Yes, if you liked this movie, say so!!!! Spread the word by sharing these posts to your friends. It will be amazing how much good this will do. If there's a surge of momentum on the box office front, this movie might be a sleeper hit.
