This Kwanzaa: Celebrating Black Scholarship, Creativity, and Collective Progress

As we light the candles of Kwanzaa, Universal Write Publications honors the enduring legacy of Black authors and visionaries whose words illuminate the principles of Nguzo Saba. From ancestral wisdom to future-shaping scholarship, these works uplift our communities and strengthen our collective path forward.
We honor Maulana Karenga, founder of Kwanzaa, whose vision continues to guide how we live, build, and imagine together.

Each day, a principle. Each principle, a living body of work:

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays & Happy Kwanzaa

As we reach the close of this year, we pause to honor the brilliance, perseverance, and collective spirit that continue to define our community. We know the political, social, and economic pressures facing Black families and institutions are real and at times, heavy. Yet we also know this resounding truth, and that is our story has never been measured solely by challenges.

This season, we choose to center the counter-narrative. Uphold the joy we cultivate, the hope we protect, and the victories we create together. Across our communities, we witness rising scholarship, expanding visions, and new pathways opening for generations to come.

As we step into 2026, we do so with grounded optimism. We believe in a year filled with restored balance, creative breakthroughs, abundant opportunities, and continued affirmation of Black excellence in all its forms.

From our UWP family to yours, thank you for walking with us, trusting us, and building alongside us. May your holidays be filled with warmth, rest, clarity, and celebration. Here’s to a joyful season, and to a new year overflowing with possibility, purpose, and great success.

With love and partnership,
Universal Write Publications

Kwanzaa reminds us that community is built through intentional action.

Afrocentricity teaches that knowledge, culture, and economics are inseparable. When we support Black bookstores and Black publishers, we are investing in institutions that preserve scholarship, sustain classrooms, and carry Black intellectual traditions forward.

UWPBooks merch is an affirmation of what we stand for.
WE- Love for Black scholarship
WE- Care for Black institutions
WE- Commitment to community building

In the spirit of Kwanzaa, we choose collective responsibility and shared growth through scholarship, service, and support.

Wear the values. Support the work. Build the future.

Legislative Genius Made Visible: Black Women’s Ascension and the Rewriting of Civic Possibility and Political Momentum~

Today, our nation stands in a watershed moment: seven Black women are running for the United States Senate. Instead of looking at this as a coincidence or the effect of a backlash against the current political leadership, look at it instead as a continuum. This is what happens when generations of Black women legislate, organize, imagine, and transform the democratic landscape, even when their work remains visible in service yet invisible in recognition.

Dr. Sherice Janaye Nelson articulates this truth with precision in Visibly Invisible: The Black Women of the Congressional Black Caucus. This book on political rhetoric reveals how Black women have long been the intellectual architects and moral center of American democracy.

Through what she calls their radical imagination, Nelson shows how Black women shaped policy, shifted national conversations, and expanded the democratic horizon, often without acknowledgment, yet always with impact.

As seven Black women now step onto the Senate stage, they do so carrying the lineage of Shirley Chisholm, Barbara Jordan, Carol Moseley Braun, and every woman whose strategic power Nelson meticulously documents. They are not anomalies. They are the next chapter of a political tradition that has always understood the assignment: advance the nation by uplifting the people.

1. Let us instruct, prepare, and teach the power behind this political tide
2. Get the language, clarity, and historical grounding to meet this moment
3. Equip our community, your classroom, your organization for the next phase of civil activism

Read Visibly Invisible and see how these Black women are extending a legacy as they enter the Senate, and be ready for the future they are building, a future Dr. Nelson has already mapped for us with brilliance, accuracy, and profound love for our people.

This Small Business Monday, we uplift THE LITTLE BLACK BOOK SERIES, a mighty archive designed to bridge, build, and fortify foundational research methods canon. These powerhouses are lexical lifelines, anchoring our histories, theories, strategies, and futures.

In our movements, let us not boycott. Let us instead anchor historical truths. Let us not overlook the power sitting right on our shelves.

Let us break the chain of miseducation by owning our agency through the LBBS. Despite being censored, let's reclaim what is being erased from classrooms. The most radical thing we can do is buy Black books, support Black scholars, and gift knowledge that lasts a lifetime.

The system thrives on our exhaustion. It counts on our surrender.
But every time we pause to think, to read, to teach, we interrupt its rhythm.

Every Little Black Book becomes a disruption, a refusal, and a reclamation.

BLACK FRIDAY - Love Everything Black!

In our movements, let us not boycott our own brilliance. No more overlooking the power sitting right on our shelves. In a time when Black books are censored, challenged, and quietly pushed out of classrooms, the most radical thing we can do is buy Black books, support Black scholars, and gift the knowledge that lasts a lifetime.

The system thrives on our exhaustion. It counts on our surrender.
But every time we pause to think, to read, to teach, we disrupt its rhythm.

This year, don’t shop the silence. Gift the revolution.
