"A Depth of Understanding" by Gina Hughes @ Oriel Bevan Jones Gallery, 24 King St, Carmarthen SA31 1BS We are delighted to offer a huge welcome back to the breath-taking photography of Gina Hughes. Based in Pembrokeshire, Gina says that her lifelong fascination for the natural world has found its expression in her art, creating forms and images which communicate her deep appreciation of its beauty and the layers of potential experience, inviting the viewer to share her encounter. Her work has been displayed in exhibitions, galleries, catalogues and marketing presentations and she has produced images for many publications and projects - local, national and international. Gina’s background is as a highly experienced, commissioned ceramic artist, which provides her with a depth of understanding of form, texture and shape, which she incorporates into her photographs, creating the best aesthetic effects and conveying a depth of understanding. Gina’s activity as a photographer has enabled her to take her relationship with plant and animal life to deeper levels, using zoom lenses to see structures that cannot be seen with the naked eye, revealing the macro-world of finely shaped architectural forms, the perfect design of organisms, without which we would not be alive. “A Depth of Understanding” runs from October 1st to November 2nd 2019. Don’t miss it!
