🔥 Burning Man 2026 is officially underway.

Black Rock City rises again in Nevada's Black Rock Desert from August 30–September 7, transforming the playa into a temporary city of monumental art, experimental architecture, performances and radical participation.

This year's theme, “Axis Mundi,” explores interconnectedness, shared realities and humanity's relationship with the natural world.

With 75 Honoraria art projects, the Temple of the Moon, massive temporary installations and a community-built city that will ultimately disappear, Burning Man remains one of the world's most unusual intersections of contemporary art and participatory culture.

Neutral interiors are getting some serious competition. 🔴🏠

“Spicy Red” monochromatic accents are bringing crimson, tomato, burgundy, oxblood, and rust into contemporary interiors.

From statement furniture to color-drenched walls, the trend proves that one color can create an entire atmosphere—especially when layered through different textures, materials, and tones.

What happens when a Vermeer masterpiece is reimagined through an Indigenous perspective? 🎨

This fall, Kent Monkman: Officer and Laughing Girl comes to The Frick Collection, presenting new paintings inspired by Johannes Vermeer’s celebrated Officer and Laughing Girl.

Using his time-traveling alter ego Miss Chief, Monkman explores the connections between European art, global trade, colonization, Indigenous histories, technology, and environmental change.

Opening November 12, 2026, the exhibition offers New York audiences a chance to see one of the Frick’s Vermeers through an entirely different historical lens.

A new story is about to spiral through the Guggenheim. 🌀📸

On September 18, 2026, Taryn Simon’s Father Country I Do Love You opens at the Guggenheim, filling the museum’s entire rotunda with 42 interconnected works spanning photography, text, video and sculpture.

Nearly a decade in the making, the project follows an unnamed federal agent while also exploring Simon’s own unresolved family history and her father’s life working for the U.S. government.

Presented during America’s 250th anniversary year, the exhibition asks complicated questions about memory, power, bureaucracy and the stories hidden behind official histories.

Generative AI is becoming remarkably good at producing sophisticated images—and that is forcing New York’s art world to reconsider some fundamental questions.

Who is the artist?
Who owns the work?
What happens when a machine can imitate an established style?
And could human-made art actually become more valuable in an AI-saturated world?

We explore what the rise of AI-generated art could mean for Chelsea’s galleries, artists, collectors and the future of contemporary art.
