Yesterday, we lost a true visionary. Giorgio Armani (1934-2025)

Walking through the Armani/Silos museum in Milan last year, I was struck not just by the exquisite garments, but by how every detail - from the minimalist architecture to the thoughtful lighting, the rich textures to the way each piece was presented - reflected his belief that fashion is inseparable from art, culture, and life itself.

These images capture just a fraction of his 50-year legacy: the meticulous craftsmanship, the celebration of global cultures, the innovative use of materials and embellishment. From that iconic black and white portrait to the vibrant beadwork, from flowing silks to structured tailoring - each piece tells a story of “soft rigour” that defined his aesthetic.

.pattern.museum This Madame Grès dress is part of the permanent collection at the Couture Pattern Museum, and is available for research and study by our Couture Council Members and to the general public for a research fee.

The museum also holds several Madame Grès and Alix patterns dating back to the 1930s. In addition to patterns, we exhibit and preserve authentic haute couture garments sewn in the Paris couture ateliers, which allows for our members and visitors to study construction methods and techniques firsthand.
