My question is rhetorical. What “free speech” spaceboy will do on “X” is diminish the visibility of tweets like mine questioning him. What he’s doing with DOGE is using legitimate concerns with govt waste & corruption to broadly go after targets he doesn’t like while leaving others unexamined, consolidating power instead of checking it.

Our window for anything resembling a “soft landing” closed decades ago. It maybe could have been sofTER, but that would require letting go of a lot of old illusions & a level of responsible, self-accountable engagement very few seemed willing to undertake, or even consider. The last thing I feel now is satisfaction. I would have loved nothing more than to be wrong about everything, & look like a fool in front of the world.

Animation of John Perkins, speaking, author of “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man”. Beyond what this mentions, I’m convinced the powers actually WANT the instability their actions provoke, that it’s a feature, not a bug, as they are quite adept at profiting off of it. Even as our world nears collapse, the mentality of these people can only see profit opportunities. And most people have been too conditioned to Hollywoodized, feel-good versions of our history to look deeper.

I’d say it’s deeper. They’re testing the waters & building tolerance in the masses. Tolerance to unspeakable atrocities to our fellow humans, demonization of those protesting/trying to stop it, given the option to tune it out with the promise of normality. This is nothing compared to the rage, division & running to the worst authoritarians for safety, once the reality of consequences REALLY start to sink in. It will intensify & get closer, until it’s our literal neighbors & family on the chopping block. Time to choose now, or face how far you enabled it to go.

It is horrific that as one of his first acts as President, Trump is giving settlers carte blanche to commit pogroms against Palestinians in the West Bank, set fires to their homes and orchards, assault them, and make life virtually unlivable.

Not only does this inflict suffering on Palestinians, it makes Israelis and Jews all over the world less safe as well

There will be a lot of excuses, denials and historical revisionism, but no legitimate ones. It all happened right in front of us, documented. It could not have happened without the complicity of the outgoing US administration. Many who tried to stop it or just get the word out were attacked, some destroyed, and many just knowingly looked the other way. A lot can be erased, especially on the internet. But not all. And not all memories are short. The world will never see us the same way again, nor should it. If we want to reclaim anything resembling a national soul, we need to face a very harsh, accountability-laden mirror, because this won’t be the last time we’re asked to ignore or rationalize atrocities to our fellow humans.
