Preah Vihear Temple at Risk from Thai Artillery
SIEM REAP - The National Authority of Preah Vihear (NAPV) has announced that the ancient Preah Vihear temple in Preah Vihear province has been at risk from Thai artillery fire which began at around 9 am on July 24.
Kong Puthika, Director-General of NAPV, notes that damages to the temple are yet to be assessed.
A military clash between Cambodia and Thailand occurred on the morning of July 24 near an ancient temple of Ta Moan Thom in Oddar Meanchey, and Preah Vihear provinces.
In 2008, the two countries also exchanged fire at Preah Vihear temple over the long-standing territorial disagreement.
