NINETTE’S WAR
🔯 From Nazi-Occupied France to British Nobility

One wrong move… and she would’ve been on the next train to Auschwitz.

Instead, Ninette Dreyfus — born into one of France’s most prominent Jewish families and cousin to the Louis-Dreyfus clan (yes, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus of Seinfeld and Veep) — survived the Holocaust by becoming someone else.

After the war, she married British banker David Montagu, who would become the Fourth Baron Swaythling. From the shadows of Vichy France to the courts of British royalty, her journey is as dramatic as it is inspiring.

🖋️ Written by former Sunday Times financial editor John Jay, NINETTE’S WAR draws from Ninette’s own diaries and interviews to tell a story of resilience, identity, and rebirth.

🕊️ If The Crown met Schindler’s List…

✡️ A powerful true story of Jewish survival, reinvention, and the will to live.

🚗 Michael Farris Smith writes like a man chasing ghosts—and *Lay Your Armor Down* is his most personal novel yet. Out May 27 from Little, Brown, it’s a story about fathers and sons, damage and redemption, and the armor we wear just to make it through.

🛣️ This summer, Michael takes it on the road. Readings. Dive bars. Dusty motels. Late-night conversations. And on **June 12**, he comes home to Mississippi.

🎬 Film screening: *Chasing Rabbits*
📖 Book launch + signing: *Lay Your Armor Down*
🎤 Live Q\&A with Michael and the filmmakers

Already getting buzz from *Cigar Aficionado* and featured in a major national profile this May, Michael is a writer’s writer—and a hell of a storyteller.

Today would have been Sean’s 33rd birthday. 🎂🧡
He was only 28 when fentanyl took his life.
An apprentice shaman, seeking meaning in a chaotic world.
His mom, Deborah Kadagian, was left in a void no parent should face. But this isn’t a story about grief.
It’s a story about alchemy. ✨🧵

Deborah is a psychotherapist and an artist. 🖌️
She didn’t plan to create anything after Sean’s passing—grief doesn’t work that way. But one day, she picked up a paintbrush. 🎨
What poured out onto the canvas wasn’t just sadness.
It was a conversation. 💬

She painted what she couldn’t say. 🖼️
The shapes, the colors—they spoke her grief back to her.
Each painting became a piece of the story she shared with Sean.
And slowly, through those visual “conversations,” she found herself again. 🌟

Deborah didn’t stop there.
She explored guided psychedelic experiences—carefully and intentionally—as another way to process the depths of her loss. 🍄🌌
The result? Healing. 🕊️
Not a cure for grief. But a way to live alongside it, without being consumed by it.

Each painting became a chapter in her journey—a visual diary of transformation. 📖🎨
She calls it “The Alchemy of Grief,”
because, like alchemists who turned lead into gold,
she turned pain into art. 🌈

One of her paintings is this: Mother Love 🖌️🧡
It’s raw.
Tender.
A story told in strokes of color and light.
She never imagined sharing these works with the world.
But then something unexpected happened.

Other people saw themselves in her work.
Her grief resonated with their own. 💞
Her journey gave them hope.
So Deborah decided to put her story—and her paintings—into a book:
The Alchemy of Grief: Conversations in Paint. 📚

This isn’t just a book.
It’s an invitation. 🌟
To create. To feel. To heal.
To know that even in the darkest moments,
there’s a way forward—
not through forgetting,
but through transforming. ✨

If you’ve ever lost someone you love, 💔
or felt like your pain had no voice,
Deborah’s journey is a reminder:
Sometimes, the most beautiful things come from the hardest places. 🌱🌈
