Land Grant's GrowthRoots

Land Grant's GrowthRoots GrowthRoots Inc. enables your small-business success by delivering Web-based Knowledge Publishing in Or, Tech-Rich Economic Empowerment.

At Brooklyn-based Land Grant's GrowthRoots—LGGR, our Knowledge Publishing company—we strive to build and buttress the commercial success of your small business or micro-enterprise. Our beat is small-business empowering "News, Views, Tools & How-To For TREE." TREE is bottom-up, DIY, hyperlocal—and all about YOU. Part of our integrated assistance to you and your community is our parallel empowerment

of local Economic Development Organizations (EDOs). This includes—we hope and trust!—the EDO that serves your commercial needs in your own neighborhood here in New York City. (We at LGGR are in the process of starting relationships with all the EDOs of our Gotham—AND are presenting them with free tailored Knowledge on a regularly scheduled basis.) At LGGR, we see EDOs as natural, business change-agents operating hyperlocally. EDOs are multipliers of effort, extenders of support, educators of first resort and leaders to member enhancement and success. We have a primary EDO objective with our Knowledge Publishing. That is to help individual EDOs enhance the commercial success of their local constituent Member/Merchants. And, thus, enhance the wealth and life-quality of their entire hyperlocal community. We call this EDO segment of our core economic-empowerment Publishing program "EDO 2.0." A prominent EDO category in New York City is a BID (Business Improvement District). There are 64 in the Big Apple. EDOs like BIDs coalesce the commercial interests of local small businesses—all within a specific ultra-urban territory, community or neighborhood. They aggregate, build and serve local constituencies—many or most of which are storefront-based micro-retailers and service providers. (Is your local EDO taking advantage of LGGR's Knowledge Publishing? Right now—if you're outside NYC—probably not! If you would like your EDO to gain from Land Grant's GrowthRoots, please contact me by email. I’ll personally reach out to convince your EDO’s Executive Director to take advantage of our free, small-business-focused Knowledge. This will benefit your EDO, your small business and your community. Knowledge IS power—AND profit, too!)

So, we at LGGR welcome you here to our page—whether you’re a small enterprise or a small enterprise-supporting EDO. We also present our small-business-tailored Knowledge via other iterations of our online system. These include our Web-site blog and (soon) our eNewsletter. (The main distinction between these two modes is that the latter is an automated "push" system. As an opt-in subscriber, you will receive our LGGR blog content—and other free content—on the day of publication via email. We at Land Grant's GrowthRoots report on the newest and most innovative Information & Communication Technology (ICT) that can underpin your commercial success. Some of our most important ICT segments are neo new-media (e.g., iPhone's Siri), social media (e.g., Facebook) and social business (e.g., Wordpress' eCommerce plug-ins). GrowthRoots uses these kinds of functions and others to acquire, create, aggregate and edit our small business-specific Knowledge for you. We then deliver this tailored Knowledge to you online in several forms and modes. GrowthRoots’ small-enterprise and EDO 2.0 Knowledge Publishing is ready to work for you—right now!

As many of you know, all matters entrepreneurial are like the circus act with spinning plates atop too many wands! Or, how many parallel "keep 'em spinning" processes can you maintain without breaking a plate (or business initiative) for want of timely input.

For me, blogging requires a lot of plates spun up on a Editorial Calendar "got to!" timeline. (Right now, that's Mon/Wed/Fri.)

To help keep our Knowledge Publishing deliveries on point (of a "wand" or day), I've just initiated "GrowthRoots Gurus."

I'm starting to create a Guru Team of Guest Bloggers to present audience-focused Knowledge to our a-building community of Economic Development Organizations (EDOs) and their member micro-enterprisers. This is a Team of experts, commentators, authors, speakers, consultants and other value-added Knowledge providers who will Guest Post at www.growthroots.com on a monthly basis.

More to come on this new Land Grant's GrowthRoots initiative...

Got an update from Jason Richelson -- entrepreneur behind and in-front of ShopKeep -- my favorite Mom&Pop-Does-Steroids POS innovation. ShopKeep garnered $2.2 megs of invest in January! Well deserved!

Here's the link to the Journal story: http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2012/01/17/shopkeep-raises-2-2-million-for-web-based-ipad-cash-register/

I commented on my Profile:
Jason keeps on (shop)keeping on! Love the solution--sheer elegance mated with the cross-boundary Apple ecosystem--and our micro-retailer in Ultra-Urbania needs POS power cm pennies per.

ShopKeep is trying to use Apple’s iPad tablet computer and the Web to break into the mundane but lucrative market for cash register software.

My Dear Prospective “Likers”!

Yep, I’m new to Facebook. And, I need a little help from my Friends (and Family)! (Kindly overlook my Facebook embarrassments and blunders of commission or omission: I’m learning by doing…and would be delighted to receive your direction, critiques and tutorials.)

A few weeks ago, I published this page for my new "Land Grant's GrowthRoots" (LGGR) Knowledge-Publishing initiative. (As you can see, it’s still very-much a work in progress! At the moment, you can find the richest information about LGGR in—yes!—Info.)

I intend to use this FB Page as the basis for much of LGGR’s initial social-media marketing. Sure, I’ll have to get better first…

LGGR is an entrepreneurial “pivot” for GrowthRoots. Our provisional tagline is “ICT News, Views, Tools & How-To For TREE.” ICT is Information & Communication Technology and TREE is Technology-Rich Economic Empowerment. With LGGR, I’m returning to my writer/journalist/publisher roots. Our audience for LGGR is hyperlocal micro-enterprises and EDOs (Economic Development Organizations) at the community/commercial grassroots.

Now—if you’d like—here’s how you can help me.

I’m starting that great push upward for page “friend” enrollment. To start, my milestones are very, very modest. (Risible, even! Gotta start somewhere…)

First, I need just FIVE Friends to like this "Land Grant's GrowthRoots" page from their Profiles. (This enables me to automatically display my GrowthRoots blog—publishing target: three days a week—on both my Page and Profile “walls” via the NetworkedBlogs system.)

Second, I need TWENTY-FIVE Page “likers” to enable me to capture a unique user-name for my Page URL. (This is all cumulative: so, in actuality, that’s 20 more.) Unsurprisingly, our user-name will be "Land Grant's GrowthRoots."

So, please just “Like” this LGGR Page. Easy as that.

You’re the best!
