The U.S. government could now take certain health conditions into account when granting a visa. Overweight individuals or those with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, asthma, or cancer could have their applications reviewed more strictly, in order to limit potential medical costs.
This announcement comes shortly after the agreement aimed at lowering the price of treatments for obesity and diabetes, such as Ozempic.
To put the numbers into perspective, nearly 40% of Americans are considered obese, compared to 16% in the rest of the world.

Douglas Ciríaco, a doctor in the state of Alagoas, Brazil, became known for a simple reason: he treats people without ever asking for anything in return. His patients often come from remote areas, where medical care is scarce.

As a way of saying thank you, they bring him whatever they can: fruits, vegetables, eggs, and sometimes even homemade cakes.

They are mainly used for photos and staged scenes, as he usually prefers to go without them. Yet, he moves perfectly well on his own!

In June 2014, Randy, a male guinea pig, managed to sneak into an enclosure reserved exclusively for females at Hatton Adventure World, near Warwick, England. It’s believed that he either escaped from his own pen or was accidentally placed with the females by a young visitor.

For several weeks, no one noticed his presence — until the staff observed that he looked exhausted and had lost weight.

During that time, Randy impregnated around 100 females, resulting in about 100 babies being born by August, with even more expected in the following weeks. Since guinea pigs typically have an average of four pups per litter, the park anticipated a population increase of up to 400 animals.

To handle this unexpected baby boom, Hatton Adventure World expanded its facilities and strengthened its rules separating males and females — to make sure such an event never happened again!
