Just four friends, four folding bikes, a bunch of camping gear and the rough plan to take the Brompton x and wander G Line from Munich into the Alps.

A bikepacking trip against the current.

Anzeige | The story behind my favorite pictures often involves two things: a good friend and a good bike.
Both take me places I couldn’t have reached on my own. Both help me see things I would’ve have seen otherwise. They enrich my adventures and shape my creative work in many ways.

Here’s to more adventures with good friends and good bikes, like exploring Germany’s beloved North Sea with the wonderful Lady L and my electric G-Line. Shoutout to Brompton Bicycle for making a bike I can take around the world without having to cycle all the way around it.

Anzeige | The day I started the PCT, sleeping outside without a tent hadn’t even crossed my mind. A few nights in I met Cheeto. He asked if he could join our camp in the snow, but there wasn’t enough room for another tent. “I don’t need a tent. I’m cowboy camping”. I had no clue what he meant, but half an hour later he was lying on the snow next to my tent with nothing but his pad and quilt. It seemed a bit crazy, but a week later I followed his example. That night I fell asleep glancing at the Milky Way and woke up to the sun in my face. I felt fully immersed in my environment. So much that it became my go-to way of sleeping and only setting up my tent if the weather or bugs forced me to. I hope these pictures transport the why I loved it so much.
Anzeige | one of the reasons I hardly needed a tent was my .eu ultralight bed keeping me warm and comfy. It maximizes freedom of movement while minimizing draft through a smart all-in-one design. If you’re looking for a bed in nature, check them out or shoot me a DM if you have questions.

“Why don’t you just use your phone?”
Anzeige | That’s a common reaction by fellow thru-hikers who spot my camera. Extra weight is viewed as a sin on trail. But the moment I hand them my .de X-T50 and they scroll through a few shots... it clicks. The vibe hits different. But why? 🐧

👉The feel of the camera makes each picture more intentional
👉Built-in recipes instantly give pictures a tangible, film-like look
👉The flash allows for vibey blue-hour shots where a phone would fail
👉Wide-open aperture lenses (swappable) create depth of field

And it’s by far the lightest camera setup I’ve used:
Body (X-T50): 438 g
Lens (27mm f/2.8 lens): 84g (😳) + mist filter

In camera terms? Ultralight. Sure, it’s half a pound more than going phone-only, but missing these shots would weigh far more.

I made it. Together with my brother . Recently? Not really. But every time I try to tell the story, I feel overwhelmed. Instantly, my brain starts playing a movie - fast-forwarding through 149 days outside, 4265km of hiking, 137300m of climbing, hundreds of encounters with incredible people, and a handful of friendships that I know will last a lifetime.

At first, the feeling was, “I can’t wait to share this story.” But over time, that slowly shifted to, “There’s no way I can possibly tell this story.”

Instead of trying to explain what the hike was like, I often find myself telling people that they need to experience it for themselves. But then I realize that most never will. Not even those how would love to. It’s a matter of privilege.

So my best option:
I’ll do my best to tell the story anyway.

Not live. Not perfectly. But hopefully in a way that inspires you to find your own trail and embrace life & the unknown a little more fully.

A bed outside?
Anzeige | It’s honestly one of the best feelings and thanks to .eu you no longer need to drag a bulky mattresses to achieve it. Their ultra light bed combines a quilt, a mattress and pillow into a complete cozy system. How light is ultra light? At size regular, the -4C quilt weighs just 454g and the mattress 595g. Maximum comfort, minimum weight.

Week 2 on the PCT in stills. Once again, a wild mix. Hugged a cactus, slept in dirt, scaled a mountain, loved my life. Beyond thankful for these days with my brother Jannis and new but dear friends.

The longest distance I’ve ever hiked in a day. Almost 50km. The best part: The distance didn’t feel like the goal or a workout, but rather a byproduct of an incredibly fun day. Maybe my favorite day yet.

DAY 26 STATS
📍Started: Mile 328.8
📍Finished: Mile 356.7
↔️Distance today: 27.9mi / 47.5 km
➡️Distance to Canada: 2293.2 mi / 3684.9
🚶🏼‍➡️13.5 % of the PCT complete
