What are video games useful are?

They're useful for many things, especially learning!

Prominent in video games, we are often presented with a challenge.

Will we always win the first try? No.

Thus, this challenge creates a sense of motivation in the player as something to beat.

Through the process of trial-and-error, players can rethink their strategy in many different ways to ultimately and finally, achieve their goal! 🏆

We believe that the more incorporation of video games in our education system can push this concept even further, especially since video games are attractive, familiar, and effective at prompting action and emotion.

Implicit bias is not only prevalent in teacher-student relations, but also in our everyday lives.

First off, it's important to know that it's normal and not uncommon to have implicit biases, especially when the media we see, depicts certain stereotypes from ignorance.

We're also influenced by the people we grow up with and what they tell us, how they view the world, and as kids, our brains are sponges and we simply absorb in all the information, good or bad.

Amidst a study that may have uncovered racial biases in the classroom, black students were found more likely to be suspended.

"African-American middle-school and high-school boys were more likely to be seen as troublemakers and their misbehavior more severe, than Caucasian counterparts for exactly the same behavior, researchers found"

The study conducted by doctoral researcher in psychology, Shoshana Jarvis and psychology professor Jason Okonofua, found that black students "were treated differently than their white counterparts."

The consequences of suspending a student can affect their life path and mindset, for the worse. Instead of suspending the student, we must be patient and show them that as educators, our first priority above all is to care.
After all, we look after them when their parents are at work, etc.
