Clocking in for another day of hearing “I can run my own socials” 🥱

Naturally when I tell fellow business owners that I work in social media, I get unsolicited comments such as:
“It’s easy, I know how to post”
“I use social media all the time”
“I have all the ideas”
“I know what I need to do”

But those same people are not posting/ growing/ creating/ or strategizing 👀

What happens if you start being honest about your road blocks?
“I don’t have the time”
“I’m not the best editor”
“It takes me one hour to make one post”
Or even worse… “I don’t value social media marketing”

It’s not “I can do it on my own” because you’re not! It’s a roadblock you’re not admitting to yourself. Being HONEST about your struggles will be the only thing that brings you to the next step. (And that next step is probably hiring help🤭)

“But I don’t want to be an influencer…”. Sounds good! 😌

Don’t mistake building a personal brand or being the face of a brand with becoming an influencer. Social media is not limited to influencers and majority of brands should be reaping the benefits of a social media presence WITHOUT striving for the same goals as an influencer.

It’s a difficult pill for many to swallow, but thousands of followers isn’t the tell tale sign of success on socials (especially if influencing isn’t your thing). Ask yourself WHAT ELSE can socials do you for your and your business? Here’s a few:
- local discoverability
- client retention
- long distance networking
- showcase expertise
- drive traffic to your website !!!
- portfolio building

Each social platform is unique and therefore requires its OWN strategy in order to be tackled correctly. However, if you’re not at the capacity to cultivate multiple platform specific strategies, we HIGHLY recommend strategizing for one platform and then intentionally cross-posting the content to other platforms 💫

Why?
• Theres a great possibility the content will still perform well on a different platform, even if the content wasn’t strategically made for that platform. It’s even possible the content can OUTPERFORM as a cross-post (see the results above!!)

How?
• It’s not enough to download videos from one app and post it to another. It’s obvious the effort wasn’t put in to customize the video for the proper app, so it comes cross as lazy, unprofessional, or just that you have no idea what you’re doing. At East we download all our videos without text so that we can add text in-app to the specific platform it’s being posted. This way it picks up SEO on the corresponding app and matches the aesthetic of where it’s being posted. This is what gives the video potential to perform well on different apps! Yes, it takes extra time and effort but it’s SO worth it!!
