I wrote this song in 2012, the same weekend I signed up for Instagram (🤔). It was originally immensely inspired by Fiona Apple’s I Know. In 2013 I sent the demo to Van D**e Parks and asked if he’d consider arranging it for a string septet. In 2014 we recorded Contemporaneous conducted by David Bloom at Dubway Studios in New York, with engineer Chris Camilleri. I thought maybe it was for the album Please but it just wasn’t. And we couldn’t get the mix right in time anyway. Mixing was still an issue by the time Pleasure arrived in 2017. It still just wasn’t the time. And then suddenly it was! My old pal Jørgen Træen chewed on it for three months, and suddenly sent me a first pass mix that I listened to in the bathroom of the bar at Amerikalinjen, summer of 2019. And for the first time in my record making career I didn’t hear anything I wanted to change or fix. So I stepped back and left it alone. It just needed some patience. "Baby Won't You Please Come Home" is about a jazz singer struggling with Alzheimer's disease and her caretaker daughter considering selling the family home. It features Michelle Hurst from Orange Is The New Black, Melanie Nicholls-King from The Wire and Recording Academy / GRAMMYs Award nominated singer Jazzmeia Horn.

The film was a semi-finalist for Oscar Qualification at the Bermuda International Film Festival and has won awards at many of its 14 film festival showings. And now it's available for free on YouTube via Omeleto.

We've heard from so many people during our festival run that the film mirrors the struggle many families go through in caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's. Do you have a story to share?
