Kazadi trial adjourned to October 13
THE trial of film producer David Kazadi and his two co‑accused, who are facing charges relating to the production, possession and circulation of alleged obscene material, has been adjourned to October 13, 2026.
The matter, scheduled to commence today before Lusaka Magistrate Kawama Mwamfuli, could not proceed as the magistrate was unavailable. Magistrate Mwamfuli is currently presiding over tribunal hearings connected to local government election petitions.
Kazadi, 34, and model Mwaka Halwindi, 23, have denied charges of producing and possessing alleged pornographic material, while their co‑accused, Ruby Muzandu, 23, has denied charges of circulating and possessing the same content.
The State is expected to call eight witnesses when the trial begins. During earlier proceedings, the court recorded not guilty pleas from all three accused persons on all counts.
According to the allegations, Muzandu circulated the material via a WhatsApp group called Trip to South Africa and was allegedly found in possession of the videos.
The State further alleges that Kazadi circulated videos involving Halwindi and shared other explicit content through WhatsApp between January 1, 2023, and June 30, 2025.
