Tony D'Angelo made history last month by becoming the one and only NXT Grand Slam Champion. With that, he also became the 30th wrestler to earn a Grand Slam of any kind in WWE.
The NXT Grand Slam includes the Heritage Cup, a trophy that originally came from NXT UK and was defended under British Rounds Rules. Those rules were eventually dropped after NXT adopted the championship.
Technically, the Heritage Cup still belongs to Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo, but it hasn't been seen on TV since Tony D'Angelo threw it off a bridge almost a year ago.
Outside of that, the rest of the Grand Slam consists of the NXT, North American and Tag Team Championships.
Tony D'Angelo completed the Grand Slam at Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania week by winning a Fatal 4-Way against Joe Hendry, Ricky Saints, and Ethan Page. Ironically, all three men have since moved up to the main roster, while Tony is now dealing with the next wave of rising stars in NXT.
Despite being the only NXT Grand Slam Champion, it still feels like Tony D'Angelo has more to prove before a move to RAW or SmackDown.
There is a lot of competition right now, and how he handles this current run could say a lot about whether he is ready for that next step.
