Twelve hours of tending to lives, I sought solace in the grocery aisles for a fleeting meal. A sudden splash and a burst of laughter snapped me from my thoughts. There, a silver-haired matriarch in a threadbare uniform polished the floors with weary diligence. A woman in stiletto heels loomed over her, clutching a latte that had betrayed her. "Are you serious? You nearly destroyed my bag!" Her hands trembled, betraying her composure. "I’m so sorry, ma’am. I didn’t—” Before she could finish, the other woman lashed out, kicking the mop bucket. A torrent of murky water splashed across the aisle. I couldn’t take it. "Hey," I interjected. "That was entirely uncalled for." The woman shot me a glare. "Do you know who I am?" "No," I replied, "but I’m betting your therapist does." Laughter rippled through the crowd. The woman huffed, her pride wounded, and vanished into the chaos. The janitor met my gaze, eyes glistening. "You didn’t have to—” "Yes, I did," I said, offering her a stack of paper towels. As we mopped the mess, she exhaled. "Funny thing—it’s my birthday." Later, I stealthily grabbed a cupcake and candle. "Happy birthday," I whispered, lighting it. "Make a wish before someone interrupts us." She laughed, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. The following day, I returned for my usual errands. In the produce aisle, the intercom crackled: "Attention shoppers. Emily Climbers—" My full name. "Emily Climbers, report to the manager’s office IMMEDIATELY!" The crowd held their breath. A hushed murmur spread: "Ooh, someone’s in trouble." My stomach churned. I approached the office, my nerves coiled like springs. A young employee stood at the door. "They’re waiting for you." "They?"

My neighbor and I have a shared fence, which he painted purple without my permission. I don\'t even like purple fences, but he says everyone paints them purple for a reason. I was so angry that I couldn\'t even ask what it means. What\'s the meaning behind purple fences?

My husband traded our family of four for his mistress — 3 years later, I met them again, and it was perfectly satisfying.
14 years of marriage. Two kids. A shared life I thought was perfect. It's funny how quickly everything can crumble.
That moment came when Stan walked through the door one evening, not alone. He had a woman with him — tall, glamorous, with a smile so sharp it could cut glass. I was in the kitchen, stirring soup, when I heard her heels.
"WELL, DARLING," she said, giving me a once-over. "YOU WEREN'T EXAGGERATING. SHE REALLY LET HERSELF GO. SUCH A SHAME — DECENT BONE STRUCTURE, THOUGH."
I froze. "Excuse me?"
Stan sighed, like I was the inconvenience. "LAUREN, I WANT A DIVORCE."
The room spun. "A divorce? What about our kids? What about our life?"
"You'll manage. I'll send money," he shrugged. "Oh, and you can sleep on the couch or go to your sister's. Miranda's staying over," he added.
That night, I packed, took the kids, and left. Divorce followed. We sold the house, downsized, and tried to rebuild. Stan disappeared — not just from me, but from the kids. At first, he would send money for their food and clothes, but eventually, he stopped. The kids didn't see him for more than two years. He didn't just abandon me; he abandoned them too.
But one day, while walking home with groceries, I suddenly saw them, Stan and Miranda, and my heart froze. As I got closer, I realized that karma TRULY DOES EXIST. I immediately called my mom. "MOM, YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS!"⬇️
