i love talking about standards and boundaries until i’m the one who actually has to enforce them lol.

because it’s really easy to know what you should do when you’re looking at a situation from the outside. it gets a lot more complicated when you care about the person, the friendship, the opportunity, or whatever you might lose in the process.

and no, i am absolutely not posting this from the other side as someone who has mastered it. but i think there’s something to be said for at least recognizing when you’re making an exception instead of rewriting the rule entirely.

sometimes we give grace because it’s deserved, and sometimes we give it because we really fu***ng want something to work.

still figuring out which is which.

Part 2 because apparently I have plenty of material!! I share a lot of things I’m proud of on here, but I never want that to accidentally paint a picture that I have everything figured out. So in the interest of keeping it real, here’s some s**t I’m still working onāž”ļø

There’s a very fine line between independence and convincing yourself you don’t need anyone. I cross it more than I’d like to admit.

Being able to identify your own bulls**t does not automatically make you stop doing it. Unfortunately!!!

Sometimes I catch myself treating healing like something I should’ve finished by now. I’m trying to stop putting a timeline on things that don’t have one.

I hold myself to a standard I would never expect from the people I love. I’m learning that not being able to show up every single time doesn’t mean I’m not showing up enough.

I’m constantly moving the finish line on myself. Sometimes I have to remind myself that the life I’m rushing through is a life I worked really fu***ng hard to get to.

I have a terrible habit of turning things I once dreamed about into ā€œno big dealā€ the second I accomplish them. Working on actually letting myself be proud.

The middle ground is something I’m actively trying to get better at. Not everything has to be 0 or 100 to be worth doing.

Rest still feels like something I need to earn instead of something I actually need. Turns out running yourself into the ground isn’t productivity.

When life gets busy, taking care of myself is somehow the easiest thing to push to the bottom of the list. I’m trying to stop treating my basic needs like they’re optional.

The more overwhelmed I get by something, the more likely I am to avoid it entirely. Which, shockingly, has never once made the problem smaller.

I don’t think being honest about the things you’re struggling with takes away from everything you’re doing right. You can be proud of yourself and still know you have work to do. So if you’ve been comparing your entire life to someone else’s highlight reel lately, just remember there’s always s**t you aren’t seeing.

These are some of mine. What are yours?ā¬‡ļøā¬‡ļø

life got significantly better when i got a little meaner.

less explaining. less people pleasing. less giving a f**k about whether everyone understands me.

you’re allowed to be kind without being easy to f**k with.

I shared my story, and somehow my DMs ended up flooded with yours!!!! Welcome back to The Rat Files šŸ€where your stories get told, your identities stay anonymous, and the men who made you question your sanity become content instead!!!!

Case 006: Six in the City🌃🚨

Six women. Three days. One hospital stay. And somehow that was only the beginning!!!!

All jokes aside, this one is also an important reminder that ā€œwhy didn’t you just leave?ā€ is a really easy question to ask when you’ve never been the person trying to figure out how to safely do it.

Sometimes the win isn’t leaving at the first red flag. Sometimes the win is just getting the f**k out.
