Thailand is a signatory to major international treaties prohibiting the use of weapons such as the Chemical Weapons Convention, the Biological Weapons Convention, and the Geneva Protocol (1925). These treaties prohibit the use, development, production, and stockpiling of chemical and biological weapons.
Therefore, the Thai military can use this type of toxic smoke, which refers to toxic environmental damage from military activities or the use of pesticides or herbicides near borders.
Protection Methods
1. Avoid Exposure
o Stay indoors with windows and doors closed, or in a sealed bunker, when planes are spraying.
o Wear a mask, goggles, and protective clothing if working outdoors during or after spraying.
o Avoid consuming water or food (vegetables, fruits) from recently sprayed areas.
2. Protect Water Sources
o Cover or close wells, ponds, and irrigation canals near the border.
o Use barriers or filtration systems (e.g., activated carbon filters) to treat potentially contaminated water.
3. Monitor Symptoms of Exposure
o Look for signs such as headaches, nausea, dizziness, rashes, itchy eyes, or breathing problems.
o Report symptoms to a health center and keep a record of the date, location, and suspected cause.
