DJing can be a lot of fun and, with hard work, can even turn into a decent source of income.
When I was younger, I didn’t really care about that side of things, but now I see how important it is — especially having the right personality to fit in with social crowds. To be honest, that’s something I’ve never had and probably never will. But I love music, and I’m into DJing and music collecting purely for the fun and love of it.
Another important part of getting into DJing is collecting music you genuinely love. There’s no point collecting a sound you don’t enjoy in your day-to-day life. You won’t always land DJ gigs, and if you’re building a library just to fit into a certain venue or club, you might end up realizing you don’t even like that style.
I remember seeing people collect certain genres just to get bookings, taking spots away from those who truly live and breathe that sound — whether it’s Urban, Hip Hop, or House. So my advice: stick to your lane. Love what you collect.
