The Great Hypostyle Hall of the Temple of Karnak. Luxor, Egypt.The Great Hypostyle Hall covers an area of 5,000 m2 (54,000 sq ft). The roof, now fallen, was supported by 134 columns arranged in 16 rows; the two central rows are taller than the others (being 10 meters (33 ft) in circumference and 24 meters (79 ft) high). The 134 papyrus columns represent the primordial papyrus swamp from which Atum, a self-created deity, emerged from the waters of Nun at the beginning of creation. The hall was not built by Horemheb, or Amenhotep III as previous scholars had thought, but was built entirely by Seti I who inscribed the northern wing of the hall with inscriptions. The decoration of the southern wing was completed by the 19th Dynasty pharaoh Ramesses II.

The Pyramid of the Magician, also known as the Pyramid of the Dwarf, is the central structure in the ancient Maya city of Uxmal in Mexico.

It stands out due to its unusual oval base and steep, rounded sides, which differ from the more angular pyramids seen in other Maya sites.

The pyramid rises to about 35 meters (115 feet) and is part of a larger complex that includes other important buildings such as the Nunnery Quadrangle and the Governor's Palace.

In 2022 Scientists have found and filmed one of the greatest ever undiscovered shipwrecks 107 years after it sank. The Endurance, the lost vessel of Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, was found at the weekend at the bottom of the Weddell Sea.

The ship was crushed by sea-ice and sank in 1915, forcing Shackleton and his men to make an astonishing escape on foot and in small boats. Even though it has been sitting in 3km (10,000ft) of water for over a century, it looks just like it did on the November day it went down. Its timbers, although disrupted, are still very much together, and the name - Endurance - is clearly visible on the stern.

"Without any exaggeration this is the finest wooden shipwreck I have ever seen - by far," said marine archaeologist Mensun Bound, who is on the discovery expedition and has now fulfilled a dream ambition in his near 50-year career.
