While you're all eagerly waiting for Somnuri's new single and album details, let's dive once again into their gripping cover of Alice in Chains's "Dirt" (available now on Magnetic Eye Records's 'Dirt (Redux)' compilation) with this live rendition recorded at Seizures Palace Recording in Brooklyn, NY.
Thanks to MetalInsider.net for the premiere!
"Protest is assuredly in the air, but the most effective actions of resistance are marked by intensity of commitment that runs deeper than spur-of-the-moment railing against the despicable actions of our current POTUS.
Such is the case with Irreversible Entanglements; self-described as a liberation-minded free jazz collective, they formed in early 2015 to play a Musicians Against Police Brutality event in NYC, beginning as a trio and expanding to a five-piece for recording at Brooklyn’s Seizures Palace Recording in August of that year.
The sounds and emotions they stirred up that day constitute their self-titled debut, which is out December 1 on LP and CD through the partnership of International Anthem and Don Giovanni Records..."
People-
We have a new 7" on the way------- grip your copy on April 28! That's this month, pal. Our new 7" will be a split with an amazing band from the Bay Area---- Unraze, featuring our esteemed friend human Joe Barker on both drums and guitars (Tigon, Externs, Ventid), always excellent Clint Chandra of Tigon on throat, and Ed from this band Hyrrokkin on bass. Out on New Atlantis Records in just short weeks. The music, monolithic in scope and vision, was tracked at Louder Studios w/Tim Green.
We contribute a reworked version of the bouncy 5/4 romp 'Golden Square,' recorded with Jason LaFarge at Seizures Palace Recording, mastered by Bob Weston Chicago Mastering Service, celebrating the genesis of a great new band in Unraze, while realizing we got our own band thing started just about 5 years ago.
$7 PPD will get you a 45 RPM single on clear mint, transparent yellow, or black vinyl. The art is a double-sided, triple pane fold-over insert by the Designer's Republic (Aphex Twin, Autechre, Warp Records, New Atlantis Records, et al!)
Something like this was bound to happen sooner or later. Reading is the basics for all learning.
Nice review for our Sephfus 7" via Cerberus (Tiny Mix Tapes)--- one of our first tunes, re-recorded at Seizures Palace Recording, bundled with a remix by the mighty Doug Scharin / Activities of Dust!
How timely- did you know this 7" could be a perk if you donate to our campaign? We are still trying to raise money for building materials to soundproof and frame out a practice space, plus a new be**er rock van- we're at $1,665 with less than two weeks to go! Help fuel our rock addiction.

Aaron Turner is remixing our two collaborative pieces with the legendary Merzbow… We are really happy with how this one is turning out. The final tracks feature Andrea Parkins (accordion), Chuck Bettis (throat + electronics), and Jerry Busher (drums + percussion)…
Last year, Masami sent over two pieces for us to compose to… In part due to the unique nature of the project, we chose to approach this one completely differently. We began by charting out the times of the main movements in the Merzbow pieces, and then we used random numbers to determine pitch sets for every section of each piece. Our goal was to throw as much of our own compositional process into the machine as possible, and then brace it all with a solid rhythmic underpinning.
We did the basic tracking with Bill Skibbe at Key Club Recording over 4th of July weekend last year. Eventually, we got ahold of the session data files. Jerry and Chuck separately recorded their own contributions… We're huge fans of their work in All Scars, and are continually blown away by all the new avenues they've taken since. Jason LaFarge at Seizures Palace Recording did some additional tracking (for Andrea's stellar accordion), and he pulled together a monolithic mix.
So--- lots of stuff went into this one, and it has taken forever to realize it all--- but it is totally worth the wait. Stoked to get it out into the world. The plan is for an LP release, with our tracks on one side, and Aaron's remix on the B side.
THAT IS ALL.
Picking them up in Poland today!
We're stoked! Andrea Parkins is about to track her contribution to our forthcoming collaborative 12" with Merzbow at Seizures Palace Recording, with Jason LaFarge!

Our sessions from Seizures Palace Recording are burning! We have one track that weren't able to finish- Ed's 12-tone/aleatoric doom ditty, featuring contributions from some creative jazz heavyweights- Steve Swell, Roy Campbell, and Daniel Carter... Saying that we're excited to get this stuff finished would be a gross understatement... We have something else in the works- we've been talking to some friends about using our music as source material for remixes... and we're looking at the possibility of doing a split 7" with a really killer band... More on all that stuff comin' up soon!
