A reporter from LindellTV — MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell’s news company — asked Nancy Pelosi “why did you refuse the National Guard on January 6th?”

Pelosi responded: “Shut up. I did not refuse the National Guard, the President didn’t send it. Why are you coming here with Republican talking points, as if you’re a serious journalist?”

Fact check: Trump has also claimed that on January 6 he offered National Guard troops for the Capitol and that then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi rejected the offer. A final report by the Bipartisan Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th attack determined there was “no evidence” Trump ever issued such an order. Trump’s own acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller testified under oath that this did not happen. However, Miller did say that Trump floated the idea of having National Guard troops to protect his supporters from left-wing radicals.

Watch as parents embrace their children for the first time in two years, following the release of all 20 living Israeli hostages.

Earlier this morning, the hostages were handed over to the Red Cross, which then transferred them to the IDF for reunification with their families. The release marks the end of a 72-hour window during which Hamas was required to release the captives, which followed a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces in Gaza and the start of a ceasefire. Hamas is also required to release the bodies of the 28 dead hostages, though the timing is uncertain. Meanwhile, Israel has begun releasing more than 1,900 Palestinian prisoners, and a surge of humanitarian aid is expected to flow into Gaza.

President Trump addressed the Israeli Knesset today and will soon fly to Egypt for a summit with world leaders on ending the war in Gaza.

Famed actress Diane Keaton has died at 79.

Keaton’s Hollywood career spanned more than half a century. She starred in films such as The Godfather, Annie Hall, Father of the Bride and The First Wives Club.

A cause of death has not been released. Keaton had two children, Dexter and Duke, whom she adopted in 1996 and 2001, respectively.

“I have no words,” Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado said as she was woken up in the middle of the night to be informed she had won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Here is the Norwegian Nobel Committee’s
statement on Machado:
“This year’s Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Corina Machado has led the struggle for democracy in the face of ever-expanding authoritarianism in Venezuela. Ms Machado studied engineering and finance, and had a short career in business. In 1992 she established the Atenea Foundation, which works to benefit street children in Caracas.

Ten years later she was one of the founders of Súmate, which promotes free and fair elections and has conducted training and election monitoring. In 2010 she was elected to the National Assembly, winning a record number of votes. The regime expelled her from office in 2014. Ms Machado leads the Vente Venezuela opposition party and in 2017 helped found the Soy Venezuela alliance, which unites pro-democracy forces in the country across political dividing lines.

In 2023 she announced her candidacy for president in the 2024 presidential election. When she was blocked from running, she supported the opposition’s alternative candidate, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia. The opposition mobilised widely and collected systematic documentation that it was the true winner of the election. The regime declared victory and tightened its grip on power.

Ms Machado is receiving the Nobel Peace Prize first and foremost for her efforts to advance democracy in Venezuela. But democracy is also in retreat internationally. Democracy – understood as the right to freely express one’s opinion, to cast one’s vote and to be represented in elective government – is the foundation of peace both within countries and between countries.”

BREAKING: Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first stage of a peace plan, President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social.

Trump said, “I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace.”

The deal was negotiated in Egypt, with delegations from Israel, Hamas, the United States, Qatar, Turkey, and Egypt all present. The U.S. was represented by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The deal is based on Trump’s 20-part plan released last week. Certain details were not mentioned by Trump and will still likely need to be worked out between the two parties, such as how to disarm Hamas and how the Gaza Strip will be governed in the future.

Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) got into a tense exchange at the Capitol on day eight of the government shutdown.

Lawler urged Jeffries to sign onto a one-year extension of Obamacare subsidies, while Jeffries wants the extension to be permanent.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) was asked today why he has not yet sworn in Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva after she won her election on September 23.

Johnson says he wants to swear her in, but cannot do so right now as the government is shut down and the House is in a pro forma session.

On the other hand, Democrats argue that he is delaying the swearing-in because Grijalva plans to sign the Epstein discharge petition. Hers would be the final signature needed to force a House vote directing the Justice Department to release the Epstein files.

They also argue Johnson swore in two Republicans during a pro forma session, so he should swear in Grijalva. Johnson says that was because their swearing-in ceremony was scheduled for a day that was supposed to be a regular session, but then became pro forma. Because the representatives had already flown in friends and family, they opted to have the ceremony during that session.
