Vice President JD Vance made some controversial comments about turkey in a speech to soldiers at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. After asking the soldiers if they liked turkey, he said everyone who raised a hand was “full of sh*t.”

Vance contrasted turkey with chicken, saying chicken is good all the time, not just when you deep-fry it.

Earlier in the speech, Vance called Thanksgiving “probably my favorite American holiday” and “the most uniquely American holiday,” pointing to eating turkey as an example of what makes it distinctly American. He later talked about the importance of gratitude throughout the year.

On Sunday, Reuters reported that the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has disbanded eight months before its mandate was due to expire.

Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor told the outlet that DOGE is no longer a “centralized entity,” and the government-wide hiring freeze imposed by the group has also ended.

DOGE played a prominent role in the early months of the Trump administration, making highly publicized moves to reduce the size of federal agencies and the workforce, but critics claimed they cut critical programs without producing meaningful savings.
